Shield Set Up WrestleMania Match by Attacking Top Star After Raw

Raw went off the air with a stare down between CM Punk and The Undertaker, but the confirmation of that long-rumored match was not the last WrestleMania development of the night.

Big Show was the last man to leave the ring following the main event of the show, and he was attacked by The Shield as he was making his exit.

It was a standard attack by Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose, with Big Show mounting some offence against the trio before the numbers game caught up and he was hit by a spear from Reigns.

The three former NXT stars then managed to perform an impressive triple powerbomb on the World's Largest Athlete, after which the camera captured The Shield standing over Big Show with the auspicious WrestleMania XXIX sign looming in the background.

It's quite clear where WWE is going with this; a match that will see The Shield face Randy Orton, Sheamus and The Big Show at the Showcase of Immortals.

It'll be interesting to see how this angle will be booked, and from the attack it looks like WWE will be turning Big Show babyface, at least through to WrestleMania.

If WWE runs with this six-man tag match it also means that we're unlikely to see Randy Orton make his long-awaited heel turn until after April 7th.

The strange thing is that The Shield has already overcome the team of Sheamus, Ryback and John Cena, and it’s hard to not see Sheamus, Orton and Show as a B-team, relatively speaking.

Speaking of Ryback, we saw a brief confrontation between him and Mark Henry, likely leading to a match between the two at WrestleMania.

After last night's Old School Raw, the card for this year’s ‘Mania is truly beginning to take form, although some big stars such as Jericho, Ziggler and Wade Barrett are still directionless.

Expect more official match announcements on this week’s SmackDown and next week’s Raw.
