San Carlos, AZ – On a night where two new SNMMA champions were crowned, only three fights made it out of the first round, and only one went to decision.
Beau Tribolet (2-1) was a last minute replacement for the SNMMA Super Heavyweight Championship, and was outweighed by opponent Brice Ritani-Coe (2-1) by 85 pounds, but used his speed on the ground to secure a rear naked choke early in the first round, claiming victory and the title.
The night also saw featherweight Jamie “The Headhunter” Schmidt (8-2) submit Yaotzin Meza (11-5) in the first round to win the SNMMA Featherweight Title. Brock Lesnar was in attendance to corner sparring partner and SNMMA Heavyweight Champion Chris Tuchscherer (17-1), and watched as Tuchscherer handed Jamie Klair (7-1) his first professional loss in a non-title bout.
Arizona Combat Sports fighter Elena “Baby Doll” Reid met Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson in a special 112 pound catch-weight contest. Reid emerged victorious via a second round TKO, capping off a five-win night for AZ Combat.
Heavyweight – Seth Harrison (2-1) vs. Jason Karpel (2-0)
Round 1 - Karpel took this fight on short notice, but shows no ring rust once the bell rung. Karpel clinches early Harrison, utilizing knees in the clinch before securing a single leg takedown and moving to side mount.
From there, Karpel works to back mount, where he secures a rear naked choke, forcing Harrison to submit.
Final – Karpel (2-1) def. Harrison (2-2) via rear naked choke at 1:30 of round 1.
Lightweight – Chris Gruetzemacher (0-2) vs. Josh Gaskins (4-1)
Round 1 – Gaskins attempts an early takedown, which is stuffed by Gruetzemacher. Gaskins works his opponent up against the fence, and takes Gruetzemacher down with a suplex.
