Ode to the Season
The season is young, the Chase looms far away;
A look back at NASCAR, before Easter Day.
The season started with with two wins for the Bees;
But seven races in, and the Bees are deceased.
Edwards was picked to dethrone the champ;
Yet Johnson continues to move up the ramp.
Jeff Gordon was said to be old and outdated;
He's currently spanking the field of high-rated.
Dale Junior was given a free pass last year;
But pit road struggles have given Junior Nation fear.
Fear that he may be called mediocre;
Fear that may be replaced by Al Roker.
Sliced Bread was brought to the Cup level fast;
If he falls out of the top-35, will he last?
Stewart was told he would struggle this season;
Yet seven races in, he has us believin'.
Kyle Busch won at Vegas, his hometown track;
It won't be his last win, and that's a fact.
Hamlin bought tickets, to help out the fans;
His mom must be proud, he's become quite the young man.
Gordon won at Texas, thank goodness for that;
It ended his streak, now shut up, Larry Mac!
Mark Martin may return next year to the track;
Retire! Retire! Before hurting your back!
The four teams continue to be solid picks;
Gibbs and Childress, Roush and Hendrick.
AJ was booted for the Speed Demon's man pouch;
Yet AJ raced Sunday, while Speed watched from his couch.
David was given the nickname Franchise;
As he brought Waltrip Racing out demise.
No one expected him to make the Chase;
Yet seven races in, and he's making his case.
With 21 races remaining till the Chase begins;
Eight different teams are currently in.
The season is long, the standings will swap;
Have a good Easter, and try the Bunny Hop.
