Alabama's AJ McCarron Sees Mom Become Internet Star Ahead of BCS Championship
Some of the stars from the 2013 BCS National Championship Game burn so brightly, those on the periphery are bound to see a rise in fame, much like AJ McCarron's mom, DeeDee Bonner.
Privacy is rarely afforded to athletes competing on a national level. Thanks to the Internet and social media, even those in the background are brought front and center.
One of the bigger stars in our wait for the BCS title game has been the mother of Alabama's quarterback. It seems these crazy Internets are falling madly in love.
Outkick the Coverage was the first to spot Bonner back in October in a report dedicated to Nick Saban. In the mailbag section, the website posted a picture of a woman identified as the quarterback's mother.
She is the one in the middle.
The discussion also continued on Twitter in the days before the big game.
There have been those ready to give advice to those uninitiated:
I recommend you take time out of your day to look up Aj Mccarron's mom and girlfriend— Oscar Mata (@Papi_Chulo56) January 3, 2013
And there were those who went the other direction with their opinions, no matter how wrong they might be:
Let's be honest, Sports Media, AJ Mccarron's mom is average. She's not as hot as you guys want us to think she is.— Zachary Person (@Zac_Person) January 4, 2013
Whichever side of the Bonner fence you fall on, it's clear America is ready to make her a tremendous part of the BCS title game.
Her son continues to captivate on and off the field, helping the team get back to the title game while passing for over 2,600 yards and 26 touchdowns.
He also managed to grab our attention with some bizarre tattoos.
So you can see that there is a lot to consider regarding the McCarron camp. In an odd twist, even an athlete's mom can become an Internet sensation these days.
