The Green Bay Packers have finally found a run game. The trio of Alex Green, DuJuan Harris and Ryan Grant totaled 113 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers added in another 32 yards and a touchdown for what was one of the most effective displays of a Packers ground game all season.

They needed it, as Green Bay’s passing offense never clicked. Rodgers had under 200 yards for the game and was held without a passing touchdown for the first time in 35 home games.

Defensively, it took a while for the Packers to get on point. Lions quarterback Matt Stafford moved the ball very efficiently in the first few drives, leading to a 14-0 advantage late into the second quarter.

However, when the front seven began to get pressure in the second half, Stafford struggled to move the ball. While the Packers didn’t record a sack, they visited Stafford’s neighborhood more than once. He made a few brutal throws as a result, one which safety Sam Shields picked off.

The highlight on either side of the ball for the Packers had to be the play of Harris, who was on the practice squad early last week. Brought up and activated for the first time, Harris had an outstanding day, averaging over 4.4 yards a carry and showing some real power and determination right from the beginning.

He ran hard all night and was rewarded with plenty of carries and a nice touchdown run.

It’s notable that Ryan Grant, who was signed for depth this week, had just one carry. Harris saw seven, and Green carried the ball 13 times.

One thing is for sure: The Lions had no answer for the running game, and the Chicago Bears might not next week either.
