Power Ranking Top Recruits Visiting the Alabama vs. LSU Matchup
This weekend's matchup between the LSU Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide is going to be a huge game, so naturally some big-time recruits are going to be visiting to check things out.
The atmosphere will be great, but the on-field play is bound to be even better.
These are two of the nation's best teams and this game is going to have some massive implications on the SEC West, if not the SEC as a whole.
Frankly, this game will have an impact on the college football landscape in general.
Here's a power ranking of the top recruits that will be in attendance for this showdown.
Visit information via James Smith of Nola.com/ The Times-Picayune.
5. Hayden Rettig, 4-Star QB, Los Angeles (CA)
1 of 5Hayden Rettig is a 4-star quarterback and he's already committed to playing for the LSU Tigers.
Rivals.com has him listed as their No. 5 overall pro-style quarterback, so he is obviously a pretty big commitment for Les Miles and his staff.
Rettig checks in at 6'4'' and 210 pounds, so he has elite size for a quarterback coming out of high school, and he's been committed to LSU since May of 2012.
The Tigers have to feel pretty good about him being in attendance for this game, as he very well may be a huge part of this rivalry in the future.
4. Greg Gilmore, 4-Star DT, Hope Mills (NC)
2 of 5Greg Gilmore is a 4-star defensive lineman that has not yet committed, but 247Sports.com has LSU on top of his interest list, followed by Florida.
Gilmore definitely has the size to be an impact player at the college level at 6'4'', 273 pounds, and he'd be a big addition to LSU's 2013 recruiting class.
The talented defensive lineman has stated that he'll make his decision on November 8 (via James Smith of NOLA.com), so a strong last impression right before his decision could seal the deal for the Tigers.
Beating Alabama would be a huge statement to the 4-star defensive tackle.
3. Cameron Robinson, 5-Star OT, West Monroe (LA) *2014
3 of 5Cameron Robinson is already one of the bigger names in the college football world, and he's only a junior.
247Sports.com has him ranked as a 5-star offensive tackle. At almost 6'6'' and 330 pounds, there's good reason for the lofty ranking.
This is going to be a big game in the early goings of his recruiting process. Robinson has LSU on top of his interest list, followed by Alabama and Texas.
A win here could give LSU a huge edge for the 2014 5-star offensive tackle.
There's still plenty of time in his recruiting process, but Robinson already has offers from notable schools like Oklahoma, Michigan, Texas A&M amongst others.
Any early advantage LSU can get over these programs will be helpful.
2. Kendell Beckwith, 4-Star ATH, Jackson (LA)
4 of 5Kendell Beckwith is Rivals' No. 5 ranked athlete, which says a lot. The 4-star recruit is listed at 6'3'' and 228 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds.
Beckwith looks to be best suited as a defensive end at the college level, and 247Sports.com has him ranked as a weak-side defensive end.
With his size and speed, Beckwith can be an elite player on the edges in college, but he has not yet made a commitment. Therefore, having him in attendance is going to be huge for these two schools.
247Sports.com names LSU on top of his interest list, but the Tigers are followed closely by Alabama.
1. Ricky Seals-Jones, 5-Star WR, Sealy (TX)
5 of 5Ricky Seals-Jones is 5-star athlete who's considered to be one of the best in the nation.
247Sports.com has Seals-Jones listed as their No. 1 athlete and No. 1 player in the state of Texas, which is saying a lot.
He's projected to be a great wide receiver at the college level, and has LSU and Texas A&M on top of his interest list, followed by Baylor, Oregon and TCU.
Seal-Jones is listed at 6'5'', 230 pounds and runs a 4.60 40-yard dash, according to 247Sports.com. He has measurables that would suggest he can be an incredible deep threat for LSU's offense. Therefore, being able to sway his decision with a big win over Alabama would be a gigantic recruiting win for Les Miles, especially considering he'll be keeping him away from Texas A&M.
Seals-Jones would put LSU's 2013 class over the top, and he'd be an impact player for its squad for years to come.
He's easily the most important prospect for LSU at this game.
