Old-heads and uniform haters beware: Oregon may be unleashing a new level of uniform insanity this Saturday against USC. Rumors are swirling that the Ducks will wear “Stormtrooper” unis against the Trojans.
The Ducks have become known for their crazy uniform designs over the years but this may take the prize as the best and most unique look to date. The all-white look will be the first Oregon uniform that is flashy with no color.
The uniforms that are expected to be worn could be similar to all-white unis worn in the past against USC in 2010. The major changes appear to be no coloring on the jersey’s and the addition of liquid metal feathers on the helmet.
The liquid metal look has been big on the Oregon uniform since the Rose Bowl game against Wisconsin this past January.
There are t-shirts on sale already from the Oregon Athletics online store that show a white helmet with the liquid metal feathers on the front, and the phrase “Storm LA” on the back. If that isn’t a sign of what’s to come, I don’t know what is.
There has been no confirmation that the Ducks will sport the all-white “Stormtrooper” look but it is now expected. The next step for Chip Kelly and Co. is to get a hot air balloon painted to mimic the Death Star. Talk about intimidation.
