Day 2 of the Frys.com Open saw some movement atop the leaderboard.

John Mallinger made the biggest splash of the day, shooting a nine-under 62 to finish at -14.

Nick O'Hern wasn't able to repeat his 23-putt performance from Thursday. He shot an even-par 71, missing his opportunity to extend his three-stroke lead.

Billy Horschel shot a six-under par 65 to move to 10 strokes under par, good for second place. He's tied with Jhonattan Vegas, who shot a 67.

Highlights

Mallinger hit a 23-foot putt to join the birdie crowd on the 11th hole. It was part of his impressive performance on Friday that shot him to the lead.

Jeff Overton sat at two-under par for much of the second round. He did that damage with one putt, securing an eagle on the par-5 15th hole.

Charles Howell III took the same approach as Overton. He rode an eagle on the same hole to a round of 69.  The big difference is Howell started the day at five-under.

Looking Ahead

Day 3 at the Frys.com Open begins at noon ET. Pairs tee off from Hole No. 1 in inverse order of their standings after Day 2.

Coverage runs on the Gold Channel from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. ET.  They will run replays in the evening.

The cut-line lies between even par and one-under. A few names that are on the southern end are Mike Weir (E), Justin Leonard (1), John Daly (3) and Stuart Appleby (3).

A total of 72 golfers are slated to tee off on Saturday.

O'Hern wasn't able to carry forward his fast start on Day 1. Mallinger will try to keep his hot putter going on Saturday.
