The Michigan Wolverines typically don't stray too far from their traditional maize and blue uniform that they've donned over the years.

In their Saturday season opener against Alabama, they will display a new-look commemorative jersey.

Michigan players and coaches collaborated with Adidas on the look of these new one-off uniforms, and the team will officially unveil them in Saturday night's Cowboys Classic, in the quaint Cowboys Stadium.

But, are these new uniforms a good look for the Wolverines?

Fans and alumni of the late great Bo Schembechler would most likely say no, and that you don't mess with tradition.

As far as the new uniform, it's not a good look.

The only impression that the new uniform gives off, is that Athletic Director Dave Brandon is trying to divert attention away from Michigan's recent struggles on the field.

You never heard the threat of uniform changes when Michigan football was too busy dominating the college landscape, did you?

At the Big Ten spring meetings, Brandon explained to AnnArbor.com that Michigan will continue to explore uniform variety.

"The coaches like it and the student-athletes like it and the recruits are enamored by it. So why wouldn’t we?”

It's clear that Michigan is taking a calculated risk in trying to attract a new generation with these uniforms, but too many changes will not sit well with the Michigan faithful and alumni.

Their uniform always represented tradition and linked together generations, and the school needs to be careful not to compromise that.

Not hiding their excitement, the school released a statement on their website detailing what the fans can expect to see on Saturday night.

For the Cowboys Classic game against Alabama, the Wolverines will don a white road jersey with maize across the shoulders and down to the sleeve. Blue piping will separate the maize from the white on the jersey. A blue block 'M' will appear on the left and right sleeves of the jersey, and the player numbers will be blue. Michigan will wear its traditional maize pants with the blue block 'M' on the left hip. The Wolverines' adizero Smoke gloves will feature lyrics to the school's fight song, "The Victors."

Michigan Football's Facebook page gives a great look at the fan reaction toward these uniforms, and it is mixed to say the least.

For those of you who can't wait until Saturday night, here is a video preview of what you can expect.

So, are these new uniforms a good look?
