Newcastle United EPL News: Alan Pardew Apologizes for 'Ridiculous' Action
Newcastle United manager Alen Pardew has publicly apologized for his sending off in the Magpies' opening-round clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
The manager was shown his marching orders by referee Martin Atkinson after he pushed the linesman during the second half of play. Since that moment, Pardew has shown nothing but remorse and told Newcastle United's TV network (h/t Newcastle's official website) that he deeply regretted the mistake.
"I did an absolutely ridiculous thing and I apologize to our fans because that is unacceptable.
I thought the ball was out and he was standing right in front of me, so I gave him a little shove. Unfortunately, that was enough for me to be sent to the stands.
I've since apologized to him and given him a cuddle but I don't think that's going to save me. There's me, saying to the players all week "make sure you're like an Olympian—be humble, do everything in the right manner" and I let myself down.

What is likely to be lost in Pardew's split-second brain snap is the thrilling victory that his side recorded over a top side in the English Premier League.
The Magpies won the match 2-1 courtesy of a late Hatem Ben Arfa penalty after Demba Ba had struck earlier for the hosts—the first time he has scored for the club since Papiss Cisse joined in February last season.
But the result was soured with the dismissal of their manager, who was awarded the Premier League Manager of the Year Award last season.
According to Sky News, Pardew could now face a touchline ban or a fine from the Football Association as a result of his actions.
