QB Vince Young, One of the great athletes in recent college football annals. In his third year now with the Titans but the question remains is this the year that Vince gets a few weapons to throw to? Going into Free agency and the Draft the team needs for the Titans were as follows:DT, WR, OG, DE, CB
Free agency brought the Titans TE Alge Crumpler the former Atlanta Falcon & the return of WR Justin McCareins as the only receiving weapons, but sense we're talking about the offensive side of the ball another huge grab was 5th year Guard Jake Scott from the division rival Colts. I expected the Titans to be a player in the Free Agency market to make a play for several of the Wide Receivers on the market and that didn't happen. Unless the Titans sign WR Bryant Johnson or WR DJ Hackett to free agent deals they'll turn to the draft for a Wide Receiver. On the defensive side of the ball franchising DT Albert Haynesworth and bringing back former Titan DE Jevon Kearse filled two team needs. That leaves CB and WR as the two biggest needs remaining. The draft will present the Titans with a group of talented Wide Receiver Crop of prospects. Who to select is debateable which one to select in the 1st round? These 5 Wide Receivers need to be in that conversation:
WR Limas Sweed 6'4' 212 lbs. 40 time 4.58
WR Malcom Kelly 6'4" 218 lbs. 40 time 4.54
WR James Hardy 6'6" 220 lbs. 40 time 4.59
WR DeSean Jackson 5'11" 180 lbs. 40 time 4.32
WR Mario Manningham 6'0" 180 lbs. 40 time 4.50
This is a position clearly under renovation but since Vince Young's arrival the team has drafted Jonathan Orr, Paul Williams, Joel Filani, Chris Davis and unfortunately none of the above has distinguished themselves.
Either one of these guys would provide that Titans with a good deep threat, number one receiver and potential game breaker. Which one will land in Tennessee is again debateable but anyone of the guys mentioned landing with the Titans and developing as as threat will make Vince Young even more dangerous.
