Manchester United Transfer News: Lucas Moura to Decide Future After Olympics
Manchester United transfer target Lucas Moura has refused to enter speculation about his playing future next season, stating that one way or another, a decision will be made after the conclusion of the 2012 London Olympics.
Lucas is currently playing for Brazil and has been pinned as the Red Devils' top transfer target this summer after a strong season with Sao Paulo. The club naturally want to keep him for next season, and in what is now becoming one of the biggest sagas of the transfer window, we really don't have any idea where negotiations are at between the two clubs.
But as the 19-year-old recently commented via ESPN Brasil (h/t Sky Sports), a decision will be made one way or another after the Olympic tournament is complete.
At the moment I'm a Sao Paulo player and I'm focused on the Olympics.
I don't want to worry about this. If I am meant to leave now, it will happen. Otherwise, I'll remain calm because I'm still very young.
After the Olympics are over, I'll decide. If I stay at Sao Paulo, I'll be happy because it's the club where I started my career...
Lucas looked set to join United earlier in the summer transfer window when a delegation party was sent from Old Trafford to wrap up a deal with the talented youngster. It was reported by The Daily Mirror then that a £26 million deal had been agreed upon between the two clubs.
However, the following week saw Sao Paulo emphatically deny that any deal had taken place between the two clubs, but also the club's director state that the 19-year-old would not be making a deal with United, according to ESPN Brasil (h/t Goal).
Whatever the current situation is—which, in reality, we have no idea—it seems that some resolution will finally be made at the conclusion of the 2012 London Olympics.
Which, if it brings closure to this ongoing saga between United and Lucas Moura, can't come quickly enough.
Will Lucas Moura end up at Old Trafford this summer?
