Barcelona Transfer News: Team VP Hopes Neymar Joins Barca After Olympics
According to a report by Livio Caferoglu of Goal.com, Barcelona Vice President Josep Maria Bartomeu hopes that Brazilian striker Neymar will join Barcelona after the Olympics. According to the report, Bartomeu spoke to a contingent of Barca fans before the club's friendly with Raja Casablanca and addressed a potential Neymar signing by saying:
"We would all like Neymar to come after the Olympics,"
The 20-year-old Neymar is considered one of the best players in the world and has spent his entire club career playing in his homeland of Brazil. Bringing Neymar to Europe to play for the club would obviously be a huge coup for their standing in the Premier League.
Neymar is currently under contract with Brasileirao Serie A club Santos, but many observers feel that it is only a matter of time before Neymar eventually brings his game to Europe. When that happens, Bartomeu wants Barca to be in the mix to acquire his services.
"He is a Santos player [at the moment] but I am sure Neymar will come to Europe in the future, and when that moment arrives we will be attentive so he can sign for Barcelona."
Obviously, this signing is a long way from way from happening but it shows that Neymar is indeed on the club's radar. The addition of one of the world's greatest players would give Barcelona the edge in their long-standing rivalry with Real Madrid.
