X Games 2012 Video: Watch Amazing Toomas Heikkinen Ramp Crash

The 2012 X Games did exactly as promised, bringing the extreme early and often. They even managed to get a scary and memorable moment in the form of an outrageous rally car crash. 

SportsGrid directs us to one hell of a failed ramp attempt. 

This is RallyCross driver Toomas Heikkinen on a practice run Saturday outside the Staples Center. He takes the ramp too slow and ends up meeting the opposite side head on. 

That's when his Ford Fiesta crumples and flips onto its hood. 

The moment you never want to see after a car accident happens as black smoke is met with flames, but firefighters are there to douse the car with water. 

How did Heikkinen fare in all this? The report issues that he escaped with a broken ankle and some abdominal pain. 

That would be as close to the best-case scenario as possible when your car meets a ramp at these speeds. 

The weekend also included a jumbo-sized Hot Wheels double loop that was far more successful. All of this is to say the event lived up to its billing as the most extreme sports exhibition ever.
