WWE News: Is the Mick Foley vs. Dean Ambrose Feud Off?

Fans of WWE developmental star (and current Internet darling) Dean Ambrose may have suffered a setback.  According to Wrestlezone:

It appears as if the planned feud between Dean Ambrose and Mick Foley has been scrapped, as their Internet rivalry seems over with the following Foley tweet:

"Finally had a talk with @TheDeanAmbrose. Unique type of cat. We'll probably never exchange holiday cards, but it was good to clear the air."

Personally, I don't think that a feud that features Mick Foley would do very much for anyone anymore. While Foley was once upon a time one of the great performers (and arguably the greatest promo guy in history), he is a shell of his former self. Having him put over a new guy in a feud might garner some tribute heat (like beating up someone like Roddy Piper), but it would not shoot anyone into the stratosphere.

However, the issue here becomes how exactly WWE now brings Ambrose up to the main roster. It's obvious that the guy is ready, and he could make an impact right now. But now there are two strikes against having him come up at this point in time:

1) The Twitter battle with Foley was the most logical feud for him and was the easiest way for him to get on TV. However, with these recent developments, Ambrose now lacks a clear path to be brought up to the main roster.

2) There are so many new guys debuting at this point in time—Ryback, Damien Sandow, Brodus Clay, Antonio Cesaro—that Ambrose could be a casualty of the numbers game. Too many guys are vying for air time, and it would be a crime for someone as fantastic as Dean Ambrose to get lost in the shuffle.

It would therefore make more sense to have Ambrose stay off TV for a bit longer, unless they have a dynamite feud for him to slide into at this point in time.
