Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Is Loic Remy Making a Move to White Hart Lane?

Dan TalintyreJun 11, 2012

Loic Remy could be set to make a move to Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, with Spurs on the verge of a £16 million bid for the striker, according to reports from Club Call and Caught Offside.

Remy has been a long-standing target of Harry Redknapp, who, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club, would do well to bring the French international to White Hart Lane.

The striker is currently under contract at cash-strapped Marseille, which could end up benefiting Spurs' prospects of signing him.

Tottenham will not want to break the bank over the summer, and were originally priced out of a shot at Remy as a result. However, at the current price, Spurs are moving fast to put together a bid to try and wrap up a deal before other clubs get involved.

The North London club are in need of some new attacking options, and Remy would provide a fresh spark at White Hart Lane—notching up 37 goals in his past two seasons for Marseille in Ligue 1.

The French club's recent drop in form, which saw them finish tenth in their most recent season, could encourage a departure from Remy, as well as several other players, and open the door for the likes of Spurs to be considered as viable landing spots for next season.

Remy was quoted by the Daily Mail two weeks ago as still being keen for a move to north London over the summer despite their elimination from the Champions League next season, but as long as Harry Redknapp remained the manager at the club.

Spurs boss Dan Levy would do well to wrap up a new deal with Redknapp over the next few days if it were to mean the successful transfer of Remy as well as a new contract for star winger Gareth Bale.

Tottenham will have a real fight on their hands to finish in the top four of the Premier League next season and will need all the attacking help they can get, starting with Loic Remy.

Do you think Tottenham will end up signing Loic Remy?
