WWE SmackDown: Top 5 Reasons We Do Not Care About Sin Cara
So the high-flying Mexican guy is reportedly returning to action soon. Usually, when wrestlers return, fans are ecstatic about it. However, with Sin Cara's return, I do not see fans getting pumped up.
Since he has been missing from action, I cannot say that I have missed him myself. From reading articles about Sin Cara, it appears others do not really miss him all that much either. Let's look into why Sin Cara is not at all important to the WWE or the WWE fans.
What's the Story Morning Glory?
1 of 51) Sin Cara debuts.
2) Sin Cara gets suspended.
3) Impostor Sin Cara appears in place of real Sin Cara.
4) Real Sin Cara returns.
5) The two different versions of Sin Cara engage in a feud.
6) Sin Cara Negro (the fake one) loses his mask.
7) This all happened in a blink in the eye, which leaves us wondering what it was all about in the first place...
I Feel Like I Don't Even Know You...
2 of 5Let us forget the bungled mess of the Sin Cara versus Sin Cara feud.
What do we even know about Sin Cara? He is Mexican. He likes to dress up like a superhero. That's right. There is so very little information about this guy given on television that develops his character in a meaningful way that he is hard to care about.
Not only that, but once he starts appearing on television and gaining any bit of attention, he disappears again. The first time it was due to a "wellness" suspension. Shame on him. The second time he disappears, it is because of injury.
We have yet to get to spend any real quality time with Sin Cara.
Sir Botchalot
3 of 5The reputation of Sin Cara is that he botches a lot. His last botch winded up getting him some vacation time. Not only does this present a danger to himself, but it also produces dangers to the other wrestlers he gets in a ring with.
Viewers start to see a guy repeatedly mess up in the ring, people begin to doubt the wrestler's ability.
Sin Cara has become a punchline to a joke. If you go on YouTube and search for "Sin Cara botch," you end up getting a lot of results. A lot of video clips are from WWE video games. Fans take their time to spoof Sin Cara because of his reputation.
There is no positive way to look at this, unless the WWE wants to turn Sin Cara into a klutzy character.
Finisher Is Not Believable
4 of 5The one thing wrestling has to do to look believable is to have believable moves.
As impressive as this finisher is, Sin Cara's finisher is all wrong.
It is bad wrestling psychology. We see a man on the top ropes waiting for our hero to finish off. So what does our hero do? He performs a move that clearly looks as dangerous and harmful to himself as it does to the villain.
There are more realistic moves to use from the top rope. I remember when an elbow drop or frog splash would finish off someone from the top rope. When you have guys doing back flips with their opponents from the top rope, it looks like there has to be coordination from both individuals.
Therefore, the simpler moves that do not require a lot of coordination between the hero and villain look a lot better in terms of presenting realism.
I Do Not Understand the Words Coming out of Your Mouth...
5 of 5The major problem with foreign wrestlers who do not speak English is the fans do not relate to them well.
The Great Muta and the Great Kabuki had something in common: Gary Hart spoke for them both. Wrestlers who have no ability whatsoever on the mic must have managers in order for them to get over with fans.
If a guy never talks, we do not know why he does what he does. Character development in wrestling is so important. Wrestling announcers cannot make us care about wrestlers by feeding us little bits of information about a wrestler's background. We need to know the wrestlers' motives for feuds.
Get this guy a manager already.
