Arsenal: Top 5 Goals from 2012 Season
Arsenal might have finished the 2012 season without a trophy to their name, but they didn't disappoint on the attacking front—netting several superb goals throughout the season.
Their third place in the English Premier League assures them of a Champions League berth next season, where they'll no doubt seek to produce more outstanding finishes like we witnessed from the Gunners throughout the year.
So with their season in the books, let's take a look at the top five goals from Arsenal this year.
5. Thierry Henry vs. Leeds
1 of 5When Arsenal legend Thierry Henry spent some time in 2012 with the Gunners, many thought it was too good to be true.
And when he netted this sublime finish in his comeback match against Leeds United, I'm sure that many wished he'd never have left at all.
4. Mikel Arteta vs. Aston Villa
2 of 5Coming in at No. 4 is Mikel Arteta's magnificent free kick which demonstrated his power, his accuracy and his sublime skill.
More importantly, it found the back of the net and brought the Emirates crowd to their feet.
3. Robin Van Persie vs. Liverpool
3 of 5With the match locked at 1-1 in injury time, Robin van Persie's fabulous finish against Liverpool was one of the goals of the season, and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time for the Gunners.
Van Persie times his run to perfection—letting the ball drop over his shoulder and then beats Pepe Reina at the near post to complete a fantastic goal and secure all three points for his side.
2. Theo Walcott vs. Chelsea
4 of 5As far as incredible goals go, not much beats the goal that Theo Walcott scored against Chelsea.
After tripping over his own feet, Walcott pulls himself up off the ground, somehow regains possession of the ball, beats two defenders and then finishes beautifully at the near post.
The more times you watch it, the more incredible it gets.
1. Robin Van Persie vs. Everton
5 of 5However, the top goal from Arsenal this season has to be van Persie's goal against Everton.
At full speed and airborne at the point of impact, to finish with such power and accuracy must surely go down as the greatest goal from the Gunners this season.
