Tottenham looks to lock up a Champions League berth as the Premier League comes to a close this weekend. With the final whistle of the domestic season fast approaching, the transfer rumors begin to swirl. After a fine showing for most of the season, Harry Redknapp will be looking to add the final pieces to his puzzle. With the uncertainty of whether Bale will exit this summer, and whether Adebayor will return, the attack will definitely get some attention.
Olympique de Marseille’s Loic Remy has been linked with a move to London for some time. He has been on both Tottenham and Arsenal’s radar. With Arsenal’s recent signing of Lukas Podolski, Spurs seem to be in pole position to acquire the Frenchman’s services. It is widely known that Redknapp is interested in Remy, and was believed to have targeted the striker in January.
Remy shrugged off the injuries that plagued him in his first season with Marseille to provide their attacking spark this season. He has bagged 14 goals in his 36 appearances for the French club this season. At 25 years old, it seems like this would be the right time for him to make his move to the EPL, but Remy has stated he has unfinished business to tend to in Marseille. In other words he is staying put.
Despite the apparent loss of a prime target, Harry only needs to look towards the other end of the Marseille pitch to find another player he should think heavily about obtaining.
Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has been as impressive as ever for Marseille. Anyone who saw his display against Saint Etienne over the weekend saw what Steve has provided for years. The French international has been the center of speculation involving a move to a bigger team the last few years. His desire to call EPL home is well known, and it was believed Alex Ferguson was interested in him prior to bringing in De Gea.

While Brad Friedel has been solid in goal for Spurs this year, his age has got to be of concern.
The American has been a standout keeper in the Premier League for over a decade. He has been everything that Spurs have needed in the net this year, but on the wrong side of 40, his career is coming to an end.
Mandanda would be a perfect replacement for Friedel. Mandanda has won a Ligue 1 title, and competed in multiple Champions League seasons. He is entering his prime years, and has proven capable of playing in the EPL through his domestic and international displays.
With Marseille’s mid-table finish and uncertainty surrounding Deschamp’s future, now may be the best time to secure his signature.
While Mandanda may not be a sexy transfer target, he is a smart one. As everyone knows, you cannot win the EPL without solid goaltending. Locking up Mandanda would solidify Spurs goalkeeping position for the next five years—maybe longer.
Tottenham must move quick or they may miss out.
