Robert Nkemdiche Makes Right Call to Postpone His College Football Decision
Tom Petty wrote that, "the waiting is the hardest part," but we're going to have to wait a little while to find out where Robert Nkemdiche, the nation's consensus No. 1 prospect in the 2013 class, will play college football.
According to Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Nkemdiche has postponed his scheduled announcement on May 18, and will announce his decision closer to National Signing Day in February 2013.
Nkemdiche, a 6'4", 268-pound defensive end from Grayson (Ga.) High School has narrowed his list of potential schools down to Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Ole Miss, LSU and Mississippi State.
Good for Robert Nkemdiche.
I praised Nkemdiche in March for setting a date to announce early, and he's doing the right thing by postponing that announcement. If he's not comfortable with the process or needs more time to make a decision, putting off the announcement is the responsible thing to do.
Recruits get criticized every year for going back on their commitments during the process, and Nkemdiche will probably be criticized by some for postponing his announcement.
It's not the same.
Nothing that Nkemdiche has done so far indicates that he's trying to steal the spotlight or milk the system. If he wants to take some more time to make his decision, he deserves that opportunity.
