Broncos' Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall Thinks Denver Can Be "Super" in 2009

Sayre BedingerJan 29, 2009

Could Brandon Marshall be next year's Larry Fitzgerald?  The Broncos' superstar wide receiver certainly thinks his team could be in Fitzgerald's position this time in 2010, and stated it publicly.

"Broncos in Super Bowl XLIV," Marshall stated.

While Marshall plans to watch the game and continue to train for the Pro Bowl at his alma mater, the University of Central Florida, he doesn't think it will be very long until the blue and orange are participating in "Super Week".

"I don't think it's a question of 'if' we're going to get there. It's 'when' we're going to get there."

After one of the most historic late season collapses in NFL history, it's doubtful that a ton of people will agree with Marshall and jump right on the Broncos' bandwagon, but it's certainly not out of the question.

Denver possesses one of the best offensive units in the entire NFL, and Marshall is a big key to that success.  He even discussed the conversation he recently had over the phone with new head coach Josh McDaniels, in which McDaniels stated that the Denver offense is "going to score a lot of points."

It's good to see that Brandon Marshall has jumped on board with McDaniels, and in watching interviews on NFL Live and Jim Rome is Burning, it appears that the Broncos' franchise quarterback, Jay Cutler, has hopped on along with him.

Cutler stated that he was "disappointed and shocked" when he had first heard of Mike Shanahan's abrupt firing, but that he understands a change is needed and that he is excited to play for McDaniels.

Breathe a sigh of relief, Broncos fans.

If it's any indication, the Denver Broncos went to the Super Bowl in John Elway's fourth year as a starter, with a young head coach in Dan Reeves at the helm.  Cutler is entering his fourth season in the NFL and the 32-year-old Josh McDaniels is inheriting a fairly strong Denver team.

If no modifications are made, Denver's offense will feature Pro Bowl selections at quarterback, wide receiver, and center as well as All-Pro selection Ryan Clady, the best slot receiver in the NFL in Brandon Stokley, two very highly-touted tight ends, and a second-year receiver who is already in the top 10 in the NFL in receptions.

Sounds "Super" to me.
