Laremy Tunsil: Power Ranking the 5-Star OL Prospect's Top College Suitors
Laremy Tunsil is the consensus No.1 OL prospect in the nation for 2013. A 6'6", 295-pounder from Lake City, Fla. with great athleticism, agility, quick feet and improving strength, Tunsil has offers from all of the powerhouses around the country.
Recently, Tunsil told ESPN that he has a top five. For this read, I'm just going to quickly rank and run through each of his top-five school's chances of landing the premier blocker in the country.
Let's get going.
5. Oklahoma
1 of 5The Sooners are a school that Tunsil digs and will most likely get a visit from him. OU has expanded its reach into Florida, and it is no stranger to snatching Sunshine State blockers.
It was just a short time ago when OU nabbed Davin Joseph. It'll be interesting to see what Tunsil thinks of Norman after an expected visit this fall.
4. LSU
2 of 5Baton Rouge is another expected destination for Tunsil at some point in his recruitment. Les Miles and his staff do a great job of recruiting out of Florida, as that's where they went to get Patrick Peterson.
Tunsil would fit in well with the Tiger program, as LSU does a solid job of coaching up athletic OL prospects to get them ready to play in the SEC.
3. Alabama
3 of 5Well, when you're No. 1 at your position, you know that automatically puts the Tide on your trail.
Tunsil is looking at 'Bama and would be the second No. 1 OL prospect to sign with the Tide in three years, as Cyrus Kouandjio most recently joined the program in 2011.
Tunsil isn't a mauler in the rushing attack, so he'd have to really work on his strength to become a better fit in Alabama's power-run-game offense. However, his feet and athleticism would remind Tuscaloosa of Andre Smith.
2. Georgia
4 of 5Georgia is a school to really watch out for in the Tunsil sweepstakes. I would not be shocked to see him sign up to play in Athens.
The Bulldogs are major players in this race, and a great visit to Athens in the fall could seal the deal.
Tunsil is comfortable with the UGA program, fits in well on the line and has the skill set to form a bookend tandem with 2012 signee and fellow Florida native John Theus.
1. Florida
5 of 5I list Florida at No. 1 over Georgia because the Gators are the hometown team here. In fact, don't be shocked if Tunsil doesn't make an official visit to Florida, since he can easily get to Gainesville, unofficially, whenever he wants.
The Gators are the program he's grown up seeing the most on TV, they have a wealth of talent on the roster, and Tunsil fits their OL scheme well.
Imagine a DE trying to get around Tunsil and 2012 signee D.J. Humphries on the edges and seeing Jessamen Dunker at OG? Wowsers!
