Viral Video of the Day: Kerkyra Defender Scores from Outside Own Penalty Area

Yesterday we brought you video of Cardiff defender Mark Hudson scoring from just inside his own half.

Today we bring you something even better. Today we give you Kerkyra defender Timo Wenzel scoring from just outside his own penalty area during a Greek Super League match against OFI Kreta.

Sure, Wenzel's goal was in no way intentional. He's clearly trying to clear the ball out of his own half, and the ball just keeps on going.

As you can tell from the replay, he doesn't seem to think the ball is going in the net until the moment right before it does.

But that's not the point. The point is, dude scored from just outside his own penalty area!

What is that, 75 yards out? Eighty? More?

And then there's the goalkeeper. Dear, oh dear. What was he thinking?

Here's the kicker, though. Kerkyra are in a relegation fight. They won the match 4-1, and that victory lifted them two points above the drop zone.

OFI? Yeah, they're seventh in the league.

Great job, keep. You just got beat by an 80-yard "shot" from a defender who might not even be in the league next season.
