WWE: The 5 Best Challengers for CM Punk After He Disposes of Chris Jericho

David LevinJun 7, 2018

At some point, all good things come to an end.

Steamboat/Flair. Funk/Foley. Undertaker/HHH.

But at some time, Chris Jericho and CM Punk will end their feud. Whether Jericho remains in the WWE as a full-time wrestler remains to be seen. But Punk is here for the long haul.

So what happens to Punk and his next program in the WWE? Does it involve someone high profile (Brock Lesnar)? Does it mean he will be dropping the WWE Title at an upcoming pay-per-view? Does it mean someone like The MizĀ or even Brock Lesnar jumps back into the WWE Title picture?

When Punk gets done with what has become a very uncomfortable angle, who will be there to challenge him?

Here are five candidates who could shock and surprise us or candidates we have been wanting to see get in the ring with the current champion.

Christian

I don't know what plans the WWE for the wiry veteran, but a program with Punk is alright with me.

Christian is one of the best ever in the business, and whether or not he claims WWE gold again, the company needs him and his mouth to be a major part of Raw or SmackDown.

Seeing him in a verbal confrontation with Punk would be something cool to see.

John Cena

It seems like a logical choice.

At some point, Brock Lesnar will get tired of toying with Cena and want another challenge. And in turn, maybe Cena gets back in the WWE Title picture.

These two work well together and seem to enjoy programs where they can properly sell for each other.

Mark Henry

This is happening as a side feud. Henry has won twice because of countouts or disqualifications.

The World's Strongest Man could take Punk's Title, or he could soften him up for Chris Jericho.

This "feud" needs further following. But I also see this as a way for Jericho to claim the WWE Title.

Lord Tensai

The WWE is slowly building him up as a force in the company. You figure, at some point, he gets a real angle with someone like Cena or maybe Punk with the WWE title on the line.

If Tensai is to be a true heel, he would have to show he can tear through bigger, more meaningful opponents than Alex Riley.

Brock Lesnar

We know that Lesnar is battling John Cena right now. But we also know he will get tired of this at some point.

Lesnar is high on the radar of the WWE and should get some title consideration. It also mean John Laurinaitis will take a further role in making Punk's life miserable.

Again, I have said this, it looks like the Corporation is coming back to the WWE.
