Bobby Petrino: Arkansas Needs to Punish the Coach and Spare Jessica Dorrell

Arkansas needs to realize that Bobby Petrino is fully responsible for the recent scandal with Jessica Dorrell.

After all, he's the one with the power and authority here—not to mention that he's also the one that lied about what happened in the motorcycle accident that exposed the entire sordid affair.

Gregg Doyel, a columnist for CBS Sports, goes so far as to make the case that Petrino could be charged with sexually harassing Dorrell, saying:

Jessica Dorrell isn't entirely sympathetic, but she is the victim of sexual harassment. We can differ on that point, and I'm thinking lots of you will disagree, but sexual harassment is about power -- one person has it over the other -- and Petrino had it over Dorrell. She's 25, half his age. She was once an athlete at Arkansas, the same athletic department where Petrino is the highest-paid, highest-profile employee. She had some sort of entry-level fundraising position with the Razorback Foundation, which exists primarily to fund Petrino's football program, when she was hired by Petrino to be his student-athlete development coordinator for football.

This was sexual harassment, and this happened under the banner of the University of Arkansas. And it got exposed.

I agree with Doyel that many of you will disagree with his point, but I also agree with him that Petrino did, in fact, sexually harass Dorrell.

Dorrell is certainly not an innocent party here. After all, she did cheat on her fiance with a married man. She also knowingly accepted a job that came to her due to her illicit connection with the employer.

The reason this constitutes sexual harassment is that Petrino used his position of influence and power over her after the accident to convince her to go along with his story. He could have softened the blow by telling the truth at the outset.

Petrino is the one with the upper hand. He is the one that got her the job and then used her to try and cover up what was really going on after the accident.

Dorrell isn't innocent, but she's not responsible for what Petrino did for her.

Via CBS Sports, Dorrell isn't even answering phone calls from her friends and family at this point. She is in "safe mode," according to a former teammate of hers from her days on the Arkansas volleyball team.

Petrino is responsible and should be fired. 

Dorrell should be allowed to get on with her life after having it ruined by Petrino's lies. If she's qualified to do the job Petrino hired her to do, she should be allowed to keep it. 

Let's just hope she learned her lesson about getting involved with scumbags like Petrino. She got sucked into his sick and twisted schemes and is already paying for it enough. 

Like Monica Lewinsky and Lorena Bobbit before her, Dorrell will forever be vilified. That is punishment enough.
