Florida Spring Game 2012: Highlights, Grades and Analysis
With all eyes on the Gators offense, they came out and laid an egg—for the majority of the spring game. Then, the maligned offensive unit caught fire in the fourth quarter.
Thirty-four of the game's 41 points were scored in the fourth quarter, and the Blue team beat the Orange, 21-20.
New offensive coordinator Brent Pease showed that he likes to run the ball, but at the same time he is not afraid to look for the quick strike.

NCAA FBS Proposes New Schedule
Out of the 80 plays run in this game, 44 were rushing plays. Pease also showed that he wasn't going to leave his gimmicks behind at Boise State. If this game is any indication, Florida will be opening up their playbook next season.
Grades
Florida is still undecided as to who will be the starting QB next year. They have two talented sophomores in Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel. A big part of the spring focus is on this battle, so the grades will start with them.
QB, Jacoby Brissett: B+
Brissett got time with both the Orange and Blue team. He was much more efficient for the Orange, as he finished 8-of-11 passing for 149 yards and a touchdown.
For the Blue squad, he was 1-of-5 for 52 yards with the Blue team. Brissett looked comfortable in the pocket and showed a fine grasp of the offense.
QB, Jeff Driskel: A-
Driskel looked good on the move. He is a decent threat to run, which is even more deadly considering he can be accurate with his throws while running.
He went 10-of-11 passing for 133 yards. He also chipped in a rushing touchdown. It was a solid and consistent effort for Driskel.
With both QBs posting a strong effort, expect this battle to last until the fall.
WR, Latroy Pittman: A
Pittman had just two catches on the day, but that was enough to get everyone excited for his upcoming freshman season.
This early enrollee showed he was ready to hit the ground running. He had a nice catch on a deep ball for 43 yards on the game's opening possession. He had another catch later for eight yards.
RB, Mike Gillislee: B+
Gillislee is expected to be the team's starting RB next season, and he did nothing in this game to prove that should not be the case.
He looked fast and strong, as he finished with 35 yards on six carries. That included a run for 20 yards. He also added a catch for seven yards.
