WWE News: Suspension for Sheamus After Attacking Ref Last Night on SmackDown?

In his first match since winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 28 last weekend, the stress of being champion again might have gotten to Sheamus, as he attacked a referee last night during SmackDown.

With the champion distracted by Ricardo Rodriguez, Alberto Del Rio was able to obtain a chair to use to help him win the match Friday night, but Sheamus was able to stop the attack by Del Rio.

After believing Del Rio’s ridiculous acting as if he were hit by the steel chair, the referee awarded the match to Del Rio, as he disqualified Sheamus, which led the World Heavyweight Champion to hit the ref with a Brogue Kick.

Since becoming the sole general manager of both Raw and SmackDown after his team won at WrestleMania, John Laurinaitis commented on the situation on Twitter earlier this morning.

The actions of @WWESheamus will not be tolerated. I've already fined the World Heavyweight Champion, but I don't feel that's enough.

Following the attack, WWE posted a storyline article on their website describing the injuries suffered by the referee in addition to a fine levied against the World Champion and possible further action by Laurinaitis.

Even though I doubt the WWE will turn Sheamus back into a heel after just winning the title at WrestleMania, I think I would like him more being a heel champion instead of a fan favorite, as he has the potential to be a dominant champion after defeating Daniel Bryan.

With that, what do you think of the new champion Sheamus attacking the referee after wrongly losing his match against Alberto Del Rio Friday night on SmackDown?
