In the battle royal to determine the No.1 contender for the WWE Championship the night after Elimination Chamber, the ongoing push of Wade Barrett was cut short when the brawler from the United Kingdom went down with an elbow injury.

When Barrett does return to the WWE later this year, what will be in store for the former leader of both the Nexus and the Corre when he heals from his injury?

From Wrestling News Source:

It's being said that he was penciled in to be the winner of the 2012 WWE Money In The Bank Match, even though WWE can't seem to decide when they want to even have the MITB.

It's also being said that WWE may hold off the MITB until the SummerSlam PPV, just for Wade Barrett's victory alone after he returns from his injury, which is expected to be sometime around July.

It's expected that C.M. Punk will be the WWE Champion that Wade Barrett chases.

Ever since Wade Barrett became a full-time superstar in the WWE after the first season of NXT a few years ago, I believed that Barrett would become a world champion in the company quickly, like others similar to Sheamus and Daniel Bryan.

In regards to the Money in the Bank at SummerSlam, I don’t like the idea of Barrett winning the ladder match to get his shot at the WWE Championship, as it seems that course to the title just seems cheap as of late.

The best way that Barrett should get his shot at the WWE Championship would be for him to win some type of match against other contenders to make his run at the title a little more legit instead of just cashing in the briefcase.

So, Bleachers, what do you think about the WWE giving Wade Barrett a push toward the WWE Championship when the superstar returns from his injury this summer?
