WWE News: WWE's Plan to Turn the Fans Against The Rock Is Working

Jun 7, 2018

For the fans that couldn’t sit back and just enjoy the promo John Cena cut on The Rock during the February 27th edition of Raw, you will be happy to know that the WWE has been behind the scenes pulling strings on this ordeal the whole time.

From the writing on his arm to the botched promo following Cena’s verbal belittlement, The Rock has looked worse than he ever has in his career. That’s exactly what the WWE wants.

Last night’s show in Cena’s hometown of Boston proved that many people in the crowd were tired of The Rock. With chants of “Tooth Fairy” and “Cena” echoing through the Boston Garden, it has become clear that WWE is winning this battle.

WWE insider Justin LaBar from WrestleZone is reporting about the company’s plan to make sure Cena and The Rock are getting the same kind of reaction:

"

WWE's goal for this past week's RAW was to give John Cena the upper-hand, according to F4Wonline.com. John Cena's time on the mic, what he would say and The Rock's reaction was all intended for Cena to win that round. Many in WWE are holding strong that Cena pointing out The Rock's notes was not scripted and not something The Rock was prepared to hear. WWE officials are determined for the crowd to be split 50/50 at WrestleMania 28 in Miami, which WWE knows right now will require Cena to look stronger and turn some of the crowd to join his side.

"

While I’m sure that not everything The Rock and Cena are saying is scripted, the bullet points that were written on Dwayne Johnson’s arm were given by the company. Vince McMahon knows that Rock will disappear after WrestleMania, so he is trying to give Cena the biggest rub possible.

There is no way that Cena will lose this WrestleMania match, so the company is doing their best to justify that win. The fans will boo Cena mercilessly no matter what, but if Rock and the people backstage show Cena their support, the WWE universe will follow suit.

My prediction for this match and for this entire remaining feud will be almost identical to how the company played the Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock angle in 2002. With Hogan invading with WCW, the WWE knew that the crowd needed to be split on the match so they ensured that the verbal battle favored whoever they needed for that night.

At the end of that feud, The Rock was booed like crazy before Hogan and Johnson embraced and the crowd accepted both men as legends. Such will be the saga of John Cena.
