WWE News: The Rock's Wrist Notes Creates Huge Buzz, Work or Shoot?
Pictures don’t lie.
The Rock had notes written on his wrist on Monday Night Raw that indicate that he may have used them to help remember his promo.
Courtesy of wrestlingnewssource.com, here’s what the notes reportedly read:
- KRS to KPB
- Innovator – Camo
- 2 reasons
- Call out
Since pictures of The Rock’s notes have made their way around the Internet, we’ve seen a huge debate among wrestling fans: Work or shoot? Did Cena own Rock? Did Rock own Cena? Did Cena win the battle?
But the answers to those questions aren’t all that important. No matter what, the real winner in this situation is the WWE.
Vince McMahon and company got exactly what they wanted out of last night’s promo between The Rock and Cena. They got people talking.
Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and just about every social media site out there have been bombarded with debates over who won the promo, whether Cena went off script, whether The Rock really used those notes on his arm, etc.
As The Rock might say, it doesn’t matter.
As we’ve seen with CM Punk last summer and his current feud with Chris Jericho, the absolute best storylines occur when you cannot tell if what’s going on is a work or a shoot. And that’s what happened Monday night.
We may think we know. We may think “Yeah, John Cena mentioning The Rock’s wrist notes was a shoot, man” or “Duh, that was obviously a work.”
But the truth is, we don’t really know. And I love it.
While I’ll admit that I think there’s some real animosity between the two and that the wrist notes were probably written on purpose as part of a worked shoot, I really don’t care all that much because, no matter what, what has resulted from this debate has been awesome.
Wrestling fans across the world are into this feud, they’re talking about it, and they’re going to continue to talk about it.
Work or shoot, that should be the goal of any wrestling rivalry.
