Arsenal Must Not Sell Abou Diaby

The January transfer window brings different feelings to managers. For some it is like being a rich kid in a candy shop, for others it is a time where their best toys get given to bigger kids and for others it is like trying to buy the best toy with a tiny allowance.

For a club like Inter Milan it is almost like take your pick, hence a rich kid in a candy store. Jose Mourihno the current Inter manager is extremely keen to buy Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby who has been hailed by some as the next Patrick Viera.

Mourinho says the Frenchmen is just what Inter Milan needs to boost their midfield and will pay as much as he possibly can to bring the midfield dynamo to the Italian giants.

For a club like Arsenal the January transfer is a bit like the bigger kid taking their favourite toys and trying to buy the best toy but with a tiny allowance. Arsenal's season so far has been a huge disappointment. The main reasons are that Arsenal have failed to find consistency in their play, the other is their huge injury list.

Injuries are an unavoidable nuisance which play a huge part in football. Every season it seems Arsenal have the worst injury toll and it's no different this season with many senior players unavailable at the worst possible time. It is Arsenal's midfield that has been hit the hardest by the injury bomb with many key midfielders not fit to play.

Abou Diaby however is fully fit and leading the Arsenal midfield well. He is showing great leadership and great form, so it is no surprise that clubs like Inter are extremely interested in the Frenchman.

Diaby has great strength and pace and his passing ability is as good as, if not better than, the top players in the world. He has great balance and skill and a very powerful shot. If Diaby was to leave the Arsenal squad there is no denying that Arsenal would suffer a huge loss in form and leadership.

Arsenal must keep Diaby no matter what as the Arsenal midfield is too inexperienced and young to thrive without him. With Cesc Fabregas out for the remainder of the season Diaby is essential in the Arsenal midfield.

Unless Mourinho is prepared to offer 20-30 million pounds Arsenal must not sell Diaby.

No way should we sell Diaby I totally agree. Mourinho can go £$%^ himself, this guy is going to be class.

In dreamland - Wenger stays and in 3 years time we have a team that includes Clichy, Djourou, Sagna, Cesc, Diaby, Ramsey, Wilshere, Vela and Gibbs looked really good at the weekend. Feck what the media and others say about our young guys there are some really exciting prospects coming through and I haven't even mentioned Mannone, Coquelin and Merida

The Daily Star - you know the paper that is only good for putting chips into? - have decided that Barca are launching a £45million bid for Cesc and Van Persie.

I don't know who are more unintelligent in all this - the daily star or Barca for letting the daily star write this?

      1. If Barca are really planning this and want Cesc and RvP we say fine but we want Messi and Xavi in return - they'll say "why would we give ye our best players" and we reply "Exactly ye dumb fu€ks"
      2. If Jermaine Defoe is worth £15million then Cesc and RvP put together are surely worth £100000m - yes that much more.

Fecking stupid journos annoy me!! Oh and I saw the Diaby story up on goal.com Callum there are complete muppets on that site

mourinho is not so stupid as to spend 20-30 mill on diaby,
how would you feel as a gooner if wenger spent the same money on a player of the same quality??
    exactly!!!!!!!!
id take 5 mill for him TODAY

Have you ever actually watched Diaby play??????
He is lazy, casual and has quite simply a dreadful attitude and if he is among the top 10 passers of the ball in the world then I am the Virgin Mary.
    While a crap article.

Though i am a huge fan of Arsenal's style, i wonder how frustrated Gunners' fans must be of constantly saying "in three years time we will have this player or that player coming through or maturing". I hate to admit it but i feel there is a very strong chance that Aston Villa could steal that fourth spot from Arsenal this season. If that is the case, will the likes of Fabregas or Adebayor stick around? Aren't some fans frustrated that they are always, quite rightly, hopeful for the future while the present seems quite a disappointment? Diaby should definitely not be sold but is this a small part of a much bigger problem when a forward, creative midfielder and centre back, to name but three, are needed now??? Just a thought

Wenger wanted to sign Diaby when he was Chelsea manager and that is a fact but if he wants him now is a different story. Diaby had good potential but he seems a bit lazy at times; his work rate could be better while he has neat passing when there is not pressure the opposite when he pressure.
Regarding the quality of the article it is decent and as the writer is still learning English so some could have got lost in translation. It is good you have mentioned 'balance' in describing Diaby because I feel it is an area which doesn't get much attention in England regarding players. Hleb, Messi, Vela, Berbatov and Wilshere are some examples of players with great balance not to mention the Spanish playmakers.

nice read, i just think that the problem with Diaby is that he is not consistent during matches. He can do magics one moment then he can also disappear for next 30 mins. But he does have that raw talent that Arsenal can make use off.

Keep up the good work. ; )

like most people, i agree, arsenal should not sell abou diaby. although i don't think he is as good as how you've described him and his talents, he is nonetheless key to the arsenal midfield and with fabregas out injured, he is going to play an even bigger role than normal for the rest of the season i would imagine. anyway, decent article callum.

I think we need help in the midfield. I am frustrated with Diaby, I think he is extremely inconsistant and therefore really should not start for Arsenal. But given the injuries we have, he HAS to start. If Jose or anyone would consider a trade to give us a better midfielder, then i think that is our best option. Ps - What happenned to the Arteta rumors?

Diaby has been a forward during all his schoolhood in Clairefontaine (where th, anelka, gallas, etc also come from).

He was from far the best player from the group and would always grab his team the winne.
