Inital Update:
Jake Ballard is trying hard to get back on the field after injuring his knee.
This is the Super Bowl and it's got to be incredibly hard for him to stay sidelined, but it's obvious that he's in a tremendous amount of pain and it's unclear whether or not he'll return.
Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News says Ballard's injury is a sprain and that his return to the game is questionable.
Given the tight-knit nature of this game, a player like Ballard could be the difference between victory and defeat.
Who's the backup?
Bear Pascoe will have to fill the void. David Tyree rose to the occasion and came up huge for the Giants in 2008. Will Bear Pascoe go from virtually unknown to a household name?
Devastation Scale: 7 out of 10
The Giants aren't hurting for offensive weapons, but with the game coming down to the wire, losing a role player as consistent as Ballard is a crushing blow down the stretch.
Timeline for Return
Ballard is out for the game, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk.
What They're Saying
