Landon Collins Signs with Alabama: Will Mom Finally Don Crimson Colors?
The month-long, national feud of family awkwardness has finally come to an end for 5-star safety Landon Collins. The Under-Armor All-American who announced his decision to commit to Alabama, much to the chagrin of his LSU-fan mother, has finally faxed in his letter of intent to Alabama.
After making her big splash on national television in early January, Collins' mother tried to make an even bigger splash by telling momsteam.com that Alabama head coach Nick Saban offered her son's girlfriend a job, which she alleges played a big part in Collins choosing Alabama over LSU.
Collins' mother, April Justin, not only embarrassed her son in front of a national television audience in what should have been a proud moment for the 18-year-old, she tried to assert that his new head coach committed a violation in the recruitment of her own son.
At today's signing ceremony, however, reports indicate Justin is apparently coming to grips with her son's decision. According to Greg Ostendorf of Tidesports.com, Justin put her purple jacket away in her purse prior to the signing ceremony.
Ostendorf posted the following to his Twitter account: "His mom sat next him to him and the two shared a hug after he signed. Nice moment."
The first display of affection since this epic saga began may be an indication that Justin could be wearing Crimson in the near future. Either way, today's episode is much less awkward than the first time we were subjected to Collins' family drama.
