Michigan Football Recruiting 2012: The Top 5 Instant Impact Commitments

Randy ChambersJun 7, 2018

The Michigan Wolverines are on the rise with Brady Hoke as head coach. They ended up winning a BCS bowl game his first season and with the talent returning, the future is oh so bright  moving forward.

Then there is the recruiting class that is one of the best in the country. They've landed some of the top players at each position and appear to have a strong future with these players. But there are some players that will make a quicker impact than others. This could be because they're more talented or because there is a bigger need at that position.

Here are five of Michigan's top recruits that will make an instant impact for the Wolverines next season.

CB Terry Richardson

1 of 5

Richardson will have to do a lot of impressing with players like J.T. Floyd and Courtney Avery ahead of him, but if anybody can make an impact, it's him. He's not exactly the biggest guy at 5'9", 165 pounds, but plays with a lot of confidence to make up for it.

His leaping ability is amazing, he has great instincts and his ball skills are so good that he could also play receiver. Richardson is the real deal and a prospect who will make a huge impact on this team next season.

S Jarrod Wilson

2 of 5

The free safety position is pretty deep for the Wolverines, but I expect Wilson to see some playing time and make a difference on this team. He has great size at 6'1", 190 pounds and features great speed.

He covers a lot of ground in the secondary and has great ball skills. He may be one of the under the radar players, but expect him to make a name for himself in the spring scrimmage and earn some playing time next year.

OT Kyle Kalis

3 of 5

There is nothing that the Wolverines have improved more than the offensive line, which has developed into one of the best in the country. However, nobody may be as talented as Kyle Kalis. He's a monster at 6'5", 305 pounds and plays with a motor that never stops, constantly dominating the guy in front of him.

He has a great combination of power and strength and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up starting every game for the Wolverines.

TE A.J. Williams

4 of 5

A.J. Williams will play tight end for Michigan, but with his size, he could easily be used an offensive lineman at 6'6", 275 pounds. Although Williams, somebody that runs well and has very good ball skills, why not put him at the tight end position?

He'll likely be the backup behind senior Brandon Moore, but you should see a lot of Williams and expect him to create mismatches for opposing defenses.

LB Royce Jenkins-Stone

5 of 5

Michigan is losing some depth at the linebacker position, but even if they weren't Jenkins-Stone would likely still earn quality minutes because he's simply too talented. He's extremely athletic at 6'2", 215 pounds and plays with an aggressive style. He's very fast and can cause a lot of problems for opposing teams in the backfield. You include him in a few blitz packages and you have an instant difference maker on the defensive side of the ball.
