WWE Royal Rumble 2012: Will the Streak of Good Pay-Per-Views Continue?
The pay-per-view.
WWE's major source of revenue and the Superstars' perfect opportunity to shine.
At first, there were only four per year. They were called "The Big Four" and the months between them allowed for incredible buildup and spectacular matches.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
We had King of the Ring added in 1993, and from there the number grew and grew, even skyrocketing to 14 one year. That was a lot to handle and it diluted the anticipation. As of this year, we are going back to a more sensible 12, or one per month.
Yes, 2011 had its share of disappointments, such as Capitol Punishment this past June. But it did have its gems, and at Money In The Bank, history was made when CM Punk fled the company with a victory over John Cena and the WWE championship.
I firmly believe too many shows a year greatly diminishes the quality of the product because it doesn't allow enough time to properly build suspense and anticipation. I would reduce it to six pay-per-views per year. Now.
I cannot deny that we have been on a roll for the last few months, and it isn't about to stop now that the Road to WrestleMania has begun. We are at the end of the season and so I expect to be on a roller-coaster ride all the way till April.
That's the general idea, right? If we are to have so many shows, then all of them should count. Keep the emphasis on the big ones and have very interesting little ones all round. This is kind of the reason I'd scrap some of those and bring back the classic Saturday Night's Main Event special.
Don't you miss staying up late on a Saturday while watching that? Every time there was one, something awesome happened, and it led us to the next chapter. Teams broke up, titles changed hands and great interviews took place. I miss that.
Where 2012 is concerned, the list of shows has been released. Check it out here.
The next three months are going to be the best of all because, like I said before, it is the end of the season and it all comes to a climax at WrestleMania XXVIII. The possibilities are too numerous to count, and anything can happen in WWE. That's why they have title changes at live shows.
Don't forget the draft takes place in April. Will there even be one this year? The roster is already unified under the Supershow banner, which has added some much-needed spice to programs. I guess if we have a Bragging Rights show, then yes, people are going to switch.
If done right, we should be on the edge of our seats until the so-called end of the world on Dec. 21.
While I wouldn't put my money on that happening, I would, however, place my faith in WWE as we continue our way into the new era in pro wrestling.
It has already begun...if you have been paying any attention.
