Just when you thought it was safe to go on Twitter, Gunner Kiel strikes again!

Kiel, the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the country, has reportedly decommitted from LSU and is considering flipping his allegiance to Notre Dame. The Hoosier State native originally committed to Indiana, where his older brother Dusty played until recently, before giving his word, albeit a flimsy one, to Tigers coach Les Miles.

As you might expect, the Twitter machine had a thing or two to say about Kiel's (in)decision.

One Alabama native noted that this marked the second time Kiel had gotten cold feet on the recruiting trail:

Let the flood of unhappy fan reactions begin:

Of course, Kiel is hardly the first highly-regarded recruit to take his talents all over the map before settling down:

But before we all go casting judgment on this kid, let's remember that he's still an impressionable teenager who's been under intense pressure to make a choice for some time now:

Not that his latest decision isn't perfect fodder for jokes among college football fanatics:

Not sure Peyton, Eli and Archie would be so quick to welcome Gunner into their tribe:

Get it? His name is synonymous with firearms...

I wonder what No. 4 would have to say about all this:

If football doesn't work out, Gunner might have a future on the Republican ticket:

Gunner must not know too much about recent college football history:

Speaking of swipes at Notre Dame...

And even potshots at the Kiel family...

Rumor has it, Gunner's arm is out of this world...literally:

There's still one big-time program in Indiana that he hasn't committed to...yet:
