Just about every year, we see some sort of celebrity involvement at WrestleMania.

Whether the WWE brings in Mr. T, Lawrence Taylor, Snooki, Floyd Mayweather or Mickey Rourke, it’s almost a given that at least one celebrity will make his presence known at Wrestlemania, and that remains true for this year’s show.

There has already been talk within the WWE about bringing in a major celebrity for WrestleMania 28, and it looks like he is ready to go for the WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year.

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleNewz.com):

Word is that basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal is either very close to signing or has already signed a deal for WrestleMania 28. WWE creative has been told to come up with ideas for him.

While many of us expected this match to happen, it’s still a huge coup by the WWE, nonetheless.

The WWE could bring in a ton of celebrities for WrestleMania, but most will make a minimal impact on the show and not bring the WWE near as much publicity as company officials think they will.

But Shaq is one of the very few celebrities out there who could have a huge impact on the WWE were he to face The Big Show on the grandest stage of them all.

While Shaq's presence at WrestleMania result in a drastic increase in PPV buyrate?

Shaq currently works as an NBA analyst on TNT and is one of the most beloved and well-known stars in NBA history. Not only will he be able to get the WWE a ton of exposure on networks like ESPN, but he will also likely provide a huge lift to the WrestleMania buyrate.

He’s entertaining, he’s athletic and he’s a legitimate WWE fan, which is certainly a recipe for success.

If the WWE indeed brings Shaq in for WrestleMania, then I’d expect only good things to come out of it.

The Big Aristotle vs. The Big Show? Hell yes.
