Manu Ginobili Injury: Spurs Star Needs Surgery on Broken Hand, Out 6-8 Weeks
The San Antonio Spurs road to another NBA Championship took another serious shot today as news broke that veteran shooting guard Manu Ginobili will have surgery on his hand.
Doctors estimate his return in 6-8 weeks, but the broken bone in his left hand could become a lingering problem over the course of the season.
Ginobili is as tough as they come in the NBA, though, so expecting him to miss the full extent of the time would mean the injury is far more serious than they’re letting on. That would be bad.

While the Spurs still have Tony Parker and Tim Duncan, they are clearly driven by the gritty play and will to win of Manu on a regular basis.
The hope from the San Antonio organization is that this is not the death blow to the team, but in such a shortened season it will destroy their chances in the Western Conference if they don’t rally around each other.
Another option the Spurs have would be making a trade for the short-term in hopes of weathering the storm and making it through until Ginobili get back into the lineup. No matter what the Spurs do, this is going to be a heavy burden to bear for the next two months.
