NBA Playoffs 2012: Funniest NBA Memes for Each Remaining Playoff Team

0 of 8

Memes have taken the Internet by storm, and I will add to that craze with some hilarious NBA memes to share with you today.

For those of you who don’t know, memes are images that are passed electronically from one Internet user to another.

Those images usually will have words or captions that are in some way funny and humorous to the masses.

Memes are quickly taking our world by storm, and even the NBA is a part of it.

Here are the funniest memes hand-picked by yours truly for every remaining playoff team.

    Enjoy!

The Miami Heat

1 of 8

This is a classic and ultimately hilarious.

It focuses on two aspects that make the meme so funny. The Chris Bosh looks like a dinosaur/raptor/ostrich jokes tend to get overused. They are so easy to use that many amateur meme makers wear the joke out.

But here it works perfectly. The Heat are down in their series with the Indiana Pacers as Bosh isn’t in the lineup. The meme praises and also pokes fun at the Miami big man.

Roy Hibbert exploded in Game 3 to the tune of 19 points and 18 rebounds and his dominating presence over LeBron James and the Heat is clearly felt.

Also, having a little fun with a very confident team never hurts.

The Boston Celtics

2 of 8

This has been the story of the Boston Celtics in these playoffs.

No one expected them to get this far. Critics called them “old,” “outdated” and rumors swirled that the Big 3 might get broken up.

    So much for that talk.

Beantown is a few wins away from reaching another Eastern Conference Championship, and they are doing it with great play form Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett

Many critics dismissed Garnett this season, but he has proven them wrong. The big man is averaging 23.7 points and 12 rebounds per game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

No one is calling Garnett old anymore.

San Antonio Spurs

I have nothing but respect for Tim Duncan. He might be the greatest and classiest player of our generation.

The whole Spurs organization is classy. I was hard-pressed trying to find a meme of these guys. Finally, I found this gem.

Duncan is neither loud nor obnoxious. He passes the ball and doesn’t air hour long television specials. He is a great teammate and gets the job done.

The only knock against him is that he is boring to the modern NBA fan. This meme perfectly characterizes the lack of personality that Duncan displays.

But, right now, the Spurs are the best championship favorite the NBA has.

Los Angeles Lakers

There are lots and lots of Lakers memes on the Internet.

That is a fact. But I decided to pick this one to share with all of you as it is recent and pretty funny. With six seconds left in Game 2 between the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder, Metta World Peace inbounded the ball to backup point guard Steve Blake.

Blake sent a wide-open three-pointer sailing in the air. The ball soared and hit the rim. Then it bounced out as the game ended in 77-75 thriller.

Criticism was flung at head coach Mike Brown for designing that play, Kobe Bryant for not being Kobe Bryant and Steve Blake for being Steve Blake and missing the shot.

The play could be argued either way, but I’m not here to dissect the shot.

I’m here to laugh with you at the outcome.

Indiana Pacers

The Indiania Pacers are playing amazing basketball against the Miami Heat and may run away with a series victory.

But this meme does not focus on that. No, this meme focuses on the guy behind the magic. That guy is Pacers president and NBA legend Larry Bird.

Earlier this week, Bird took home the 2011-2012 NBA Executive of the Year award. He is the first person in the history of the league to have won MVP, Coach of the Year and Executive of the Year.

Bird has helped turn this team from a league afterthought to a playoff nightmare for opposing teams and deserves the praise he has received.

    Congrats Larry Bird!

Philadelphia 76ers

It was Game 3 in a second round NBA series between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers. The matchup was tied at 1-1 and the teams were headed back to The City of Brotherly Love.

Then, the TNT cameras caught a glimpse of this fan—and they showed him over and over and over again.

He was the only thing uglier than the basketball that was being played.

It was as if the guy was making fun of himself, but then this meme happened and made matters funnier. Not only is the meme poking fun at how fat this fan actually is, but the picture gives a nod to how great Rajon Rondo is playing in these playoffs.

The Celtics dominated the game and earned a 2-1 series lead. The series is now tied at 2 games a piece. So, maybe, the fan didn’t eat Rondo after all. He probably just ate too many Philly Cheesesteaks.

Los Angeles Clippers

7 of 8

There were many memes about Chris Paul’s hilarious son. There were even more about Blake Griffin doing Blake Griffin-style things such as flopping and dunking.

But I chose this one. Condescending Wonka, when done right, is hilarious. This meme was done right. I don’t mean this as an insult to the bandwagon Los Angeles Clippers fans but more as respect to Chris Paul.

Paul is one of the best point guards in the game today, averaging 23 points and nine assists in the playoffs. He has cooled down against the San Antonio Spurs but has done great things for Lob City.

Paul turned the Clippers from a bottom dweller to a playoff force, and for that he should be celebrated with this meme.

Oklahoma City Thunder

8 of 8

There were no shortage of Oklahoma City Thunder memes, and they are all pretty funny.

    But this is wonderful.

I still can’t get over it.

I hope you enjoyed reading this and it gave you a laugh. Good luck to your playoff team!
