Week 16 Fantasy Rankings: Top 10 Players at Every Position

0 of 6

Week 16 of the 2011 fantasy football campaign is upon us, and that means that in the majority of leagues—after a season of close scrapes and blowouts, injuries and duds, breakout stars and fluke explosions—only two teams remain alive.

    It's championship week, kiddies!

To aid the last pair of contestants in winning that final game that stands between them and a championship, here's a look at the top 10 fantasy options at each position as we hit the next-to-last week of the 2011 NFL season.

1. Drew Brees and the Top 10 Quarterbacks

1 of 6

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees eviscerated the Minnesota Vikings Sunday to the tune of 412 passing yards and five touchdowns. With only 304 yards standing between him and Dan Marino's single-season passing yardage record, Brees is the top fantasy signal-caller for championship week.

    1. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (vs. Atlanta)

    2. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (vs. Chicago)

    3. Tom Brady, New England Patriots (vs. Miami)

    4. Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (vs. Tampa Bay)

    5. Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (at Detroit)

    6. Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (vs. San Diego)

    7. Michael Vick, Philadelphia Eagles (at Dallas)

    8. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (vs. Philadelphia)

    9. Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos (at Buffalo)

    10. Eli Manning, New York Giants (at NYJ)

2. Arian Foster and the Top 10 Running Backs

2 of 6

The Houston Texans fell to the Carolina Panthers 28-13 in Week 15, but blame for that loss can't be placed on running back Arian Foster, who rolled for 167 total yards and a score.

Foster faces off this week with an Indianapolis Colts team that allows the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing ball-carriers.

    1. Arian Foster, Houston Texans (at Indianapolis)

    2. LeSean McCoy, Philadelphia Eagles (at Dallas)

    3. Maurice Jones-Drew, Jacksonville Jaguars (at Tennessee)

    4. Ray Rice, Baltimore Ravens (vs. Cleveland)

    5. Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks (vs. San Francisco)

    6. Reggie Bush, Miami Dolphins (at New England)

    7. Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings (at Washington)

    8. LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at Carolina)

    9. Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers (at Seattle)

    10. Steven Jackson, St. Louis Rams (at Pittsburgh)

3. Calvin Johnson and the Top 10 Wide Receivers

3 of 6

Wide receiver Calvin Johnson exploded in the Detroit Lions' victory over the Oakland Raiders last week, reeling in nine receptions for an eye-popping 214 yards and two touchdowns.

Fantasy football's top wideout should be in for another big day when the Lions host the San Diego Chargers in Week 16.

    1. Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions (vs. San Diego)

    2. Wes Welker, New England Patriots (vs. Miami)

    3. Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons (at New Orleans)

    4. Steve Smith, Carolina Panthers (vs. Tampa Bay)

    5. Brandon Marshall, Miami Dolphins (at New England)

    6. Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals (at Cincinnati)

    7. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia Eagles (at Dallas)

    8. Miles Austin, Dallas Cowboys (vs. Philadelphia)

    9. Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers (at Detroit)

    10. Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. St. Louis)

4. Rob Gronkowski and the Top 10 Tight Ends

4 of 6

Rob Gronkowski lit up the Miami Dolphins for six catches, 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, and while the Dolphins aren't a favorable fantasy matchup for opposing tight ends, the second-year pro could easily make it two big games in a row against Miami given his gaudy production this season.

    1. Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots (vs. Miami)

    2. Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints (vs. Atlanta)

    3. Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers (at Detroit)

    4. Jermichael Finley, Green Bay Packers (vs. Chicago)

    5. Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons (at New Orleans)

    6. Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys (vs. Philadelphia)

    7. Brandon Pettigrew, Detroit Lions (vs. San Diego)

    8. Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots (vs. Miami)

    9. Brent Celek, Philadelphia Eagles (at Dallas)

    10. Dustin Keller, New York Jets (vs. NYG)

5. John Kasay and the Top 10 Kickers

5 of 6

Kicker John Kasay has hovered around the top spot at his position in fantasy points for most of this season, and with a favorable matchup on tap at home against the Atlanta Falcons this week, the venerable Kasay is as good a choice as any for championship week's top fantasy foot.

    1. John Kasay, New Orleans Saints (vs. Atlanta)

    2. Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers (vs. Chicago)

    3. David Akers, San Francisco 49ers (at Seattle)

    4. Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots (vs. Miami)

    5. Jason Hanson, Detroit Lions (vs. San Diego)

    6. Dan Bailey, Dallas Cowboys (vs. Philadelphia)

    7. Neil Rackers, Houston Texans (at Indianapolis)

    8. Billy Cundiff, Baltimore Ravens (vs. Cleveland)

    9. Nick Novak, San Diego Chargers (at Detroit)

    10. Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders (at Kansas City)

6. Pittsburgh Steelers and the Top 10 Team Defenses

6 of 6

The Pittsburgh Steelers possess one of the National Football League's top defenses and a top five fantasy defense.

With a dream matchup coming against a St. Louis Rams team that allows the most fantasy points to opposing defenses, the Steelers are clearly the top fantasy play at the position this week.

    1. Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. St. Louis)

    2. Baltimore Ravens (vs. Cleveland)

    3. Houston Texans (at Indianapolis)

    4. Green Bay Packers (vs. Chicago)

    5. New York Giants (at NYJ)

    6. Philadelphia Eagles (at Dallas)

    7. Cincinnati Bengals (vs. Arizona)

    8. Dallas Cowboys (vs. Philadelphia)

    9. Detroit Lions (vs. San Diego)

    10. New Orleans Saints (vs. Atlanta)
