WWE Raw Results: Top 10 Moments from Last Night's Supershow

Justin WatryDec 6, 2011

WWE Raw was a good show last night. The two hours flew by, and everybody gave it their all. It may have been the Florida audience. It may have been the performers. Whatever it was, something about last night's show felt special.

Even with that, this show was "in the middle" to me. If I were grading Raw, I would give this episode a C (maybe a B-). Without any more stalling, let's get to the top 10 moments...

10. Diva's Match

1 of 10

Kelly Kelly and Eve defeated Natalya and Beth Phoenix in a quick tag team match. Alicia Fox was ringside, and she was the star in my mind. Such a talented diva!

The only talking point here was the "lookwithin" promo interrupted a diva's promo before the match, making its first official appearance on WWE TV. It could mean nothing, but was this a sign that Kharma is actually behind the videos? I know the vignettes keep saying "he," but I thought it was worth mentioning.

9. Nash Looked Good

2 of 10

This is what I want to see more of on WWE!

Such a simple, yet effective segment. Kevin Nash destroyed a beloved face. He looked dominant in his return to the ring, and the announcers hyped up Triple H coming back for revenge at WWE TLC.

I liked this segment. It was straight to the point, and Nash hit all of his big moves for the newer audience to get a feel for his wrestling moves. Nicely done!

8. Videos! Videos! Videos!

3 of 10

As I mentioned earlier, I like the new vignette for January 2nd, 2012. They finally teased it on television, and it is building to an epic night of WWE Raw next month. Great job!

The WWE also teased some new information on the WWE Network set to launch next year. I like the idea of a "Legends House." The rest (WCW, ECW content) was already assumed. Nice teaser here.

Finally, WWE aired yet another Kane promo. It sure looks like he is returning with his mask. I have stated from the beginning that I really do not care one way or another. I welcome his comeback, but wearing a mask makes no difference to me.

I can't magically forget how he looks. I can't magically forget how his voice sounds. I can't magically add some "mystery" to him wearing a mask. If he wants to wear it for one last nostalgic run, good for him!

7. Cena Gave Up a WWE Title Match

4 of 10

He gave up a WWE title match for Zack Ryder to get an opportunity? He vowed to regain the gold, only to help out a friend instead? Why not just lay down in his match with Ryder then?

Sorry, I do not like that. The goal of every star in the business should be going for the top title in the company. John Cena, especially, was going for the WWE title, only to not want it an hour later.

I understood the purpose of the story, but it was just a little factor that was huge to me. Cena gave up a WWE title match. Period.

6. Miz Defeats Orton

5 of 10

I enjoyed The Miz vs. Randy Orton. It was a short match, but that is fine. Once again, Mr. RKO lost a match while extending his feud with Wade Barrett.

Nice use of all men here, and it is nice to see Miz back in the main event scene. As I stated months ago, he needed to "cool off" after being on top for so long. It is now time for him to stand out...again!

5. Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler

6 of 10

Sheamus picked up another win on his road to becoming a huge star in this business. Dolph Ziggler looked wonderful all night, and he even teased tension with Jack Swagger and Vickie Guerrero.

Everything was done to perfection here. Zack Ryder got some heat back on Ziggler, and their feud looks to be moving along nicely. Amazing work here!

4. Del Rio Beats Bryan

7 of 10

This was also a perfect segment!

Alberto Del Rio is the man heading to the main event scene. Daniel Bryan is not anytime soon. Thus, the end result was obvious.

I have said it for the past month, and I will again: Bryan should be nowhere near the top of the card right now. There will be plenty of time for that next spring. Now is NOT the time!

3. Local WWE Commercial

8 of 10

Yes, the reports are true!

I saw a WWE Elimination Chamber commercial during Raw last night. The show is coming to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and there is no doubt I am going. Tickets go on sale next week, and I am sure to be one of the first getting pre-sale information from the Bradley Center.

For those wondering, the commercial was pretty standard. It was just a bunch of highlights from the chamber, with a bunch of top performers talking about how dangerous it is! Anybody wishing for me to make a sign/poster, let me know of some suggestions in the comment section!

2. Two Matches in One Night...Again?!?!

9 of 10

I did not like this back in October.

I did not like this back in November.

It is now December, and WWE has done it again. Zack Ryder had two matches last night, and I do not approve of this. Safety comes first, folks!

His battle with Cena was fine. I already touched on the entire Cena situation, but their match was an extended squash. Ryder had no right to even be near victory against Cena. I understand wanting to get Ryder over, but he is nowhere near that level yet. They need to slow it down...

I did like Ryder looking more serious. As I mentioned many times, his little gimmick needs to slowly go away. I was happy to see him look focused last night.

I didn't even mind his match with Mark Henry. It was good build up for next week's big main event, and it also gave Ryder his US title match. Cena vs. Henry at the Slammy Awards next Monday? Sounds interesting. Perhaps Cena can finally get a PPV match made for TLC next week? Brodus Clay maybe?

My problem was exactly as I stated for the past two months. Safety comes first. No reason for Ryder to be on nearly 30 minutes last night. Not only that, but competing in two matches just made me feel uncomfortable. I have seen many things in my 20 years as a wrestling fan. Seeing this now three months in a row is troubling.

I am sorry, but the last thing that guy needs is an injury right now. He is on a roll. He will likely be the next United States Champion, and I really do not wish to see him in any danger. Please, no more WWE stars pulling double duty...please!

1. CM Punk and His Promos

10 of 10

I liked the contract signing segment to close the show. It was fine hype for the triple threat TLC match in two weeks for the WWE Championship, and Punk standing tall was the right move.

Sadly, CM Punk is still doing his "insider" comments. I enjoyed them months ago, but it is time to move on. I didn't even mind his Twitter comments too much. This whole "breaking the fourth wall" phase really is not my cup of tea.

I watch wrestling for the faces and heels. Keep all the tweeners, insider promos and "shooting" off the television screen or at least limit them to rare incidents (like Punk in the summer).

The opening segment had some of this as well, but it was magnified at the end of the show. Punk and his "pipebombs" have grown tiresome. They no longer mean anything and it is not "cool" anymore.

Since his first "worked shoot promo" back in June, they have all decreased in meaning and value since. Just stop them now! I grew tire of them after SummerSlam, and I have no desire to see them weekly moving forward.

Also, his last about The Miz seeing Twilight was not needed. It is 2011, folks. Keep that humor away from WWE next time!

Next week is the Slammy Awards edition of WWE Raw! It will be a special three-hour episode, and it serves as the final show before WWE TLC. I am looking forward to the big event...
