WWE Vengeance 2011 Predictions: WWE Sets the Table for The Rock

Justin WatryOct 22, 2011

WWE Vengeance is going to be a very interesting show. By my count, there are eight matches in total. Some are going to be great bouts, others are going to tell great stories.

The most intriguing part about this PPV show is the follow through. Everybody knows Survivor Series is next month, and everybody knows who is returning to the ring. How will WWE get there? Let's find out...

Sheamus vs. Christian

1 of 8

Sheamus is a big part of the future. Christian is not. Sheamus is still learning each and every day. Christian can teach him all he needs to know.

These two had a great match last month and will deliver again on Sunday. As for a winner? This is a pretty easy call in my book. Sheamus takes this one again. I don't care that he won last show as well. It's not about trading victories here.

Could Christian win? Yeah, I suppose he could sneak out a win, but really? What would the point be exactly? These two will end up in a big tag team match next month anyways...

Winner: Sheamus

Air Boom vs. Dolph/Swagger for the Tag Belts

2 of 8

Remember who predicted the name Air Boom? Oh yeah, it was me a full week before it was officially named on Raw! Bad name, yet fun to say!

As for this match, it seems like another easy pick. Air Boom needs to keep those titles for awhile. I don't know if Evan Bourne is healthy or not. I also do not know if Vickie will get involved here. All I do know is that Air Boom really could use a few more months as champs.

I do not like Dolph wrestling twice in one night. I do not like it one bit. I say he loses here after some Swagger nonsense. Why not?

Winners: Air Boom

Dolph vs. Zack Ryder for the US Title

3 of 8

I suppose this match will be later on in the evening, but it still does not change my mind. I am very against the idea of two matches in one night for anybody. It just doesn't sit well with me.

I assume the match will be fine. Zack Ryder still needs a new gimmick. If he keeps up with this "broski, Long Island, Woo Woo Woo" garbage, he will be in the mid card forever (eventually being fired).

He is slowly but surely getting over. He has the tools on the microphone, and he is decent inside the ring. The only problem is his character appeals to such a small audience. It is bound to cater to a "niche" crowd forever. He needs to change it up a little, or he has already peaked.

In the end, I think Dolph pulls out a win. If Ryder is going to win, make it next month in New York City at Survivor Series! Imagine the crowd reaction there...

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes

4 of 8

This match is not for the Intercontinental Championship.

That makes my pick pretty easy. Orton and Cody will put on a great match. It is probably going to be match of the night. I also feel Cody is slowly getting to the main event scene. He still needs to tone down his expressions just a bit though.

A winner here was made obvious in the opening sentence. If Cody was set to win, the IC title would be on the line. Since it is not for the gold, Orton can win (without getting the strap).

Since WWE has a habit of throwing out DQ wins every so often, this match has a chance of being declared a "No Contest" or even the dreaded "Count out win." Either way, I say Orton wins.

Winner: Randy Orton

Beth Phoenix vs. Eve for the Divas Title

5 of 8

This should be a quick match. Beth has to win here and keep rolling, until Kharma returns. That seems like the way WWE is headed.

Now, if Eve wins? Well, I won't care too much. I'm not going to hop onto Facebook and Twitter and boycott watching or anything like that. I will just be a little confused and watch Raw to find out what is going to happen next.

Winner: Beth in a squash match

Alberto Del Rio vs John Cena: WWE Title Bout in a Last Man Standing Match

6 of 8

I have a few thoughts on this one. It does dip into the old, tired, boring "fantasy booking," but stay with me for a second.

1. Brodus Clay is coming back. He seems to be a heel. Who was he paired with in the past? Who could use some help at Vengeance? Yep, Del Rio!

2. It seems like a long shot, but The Rock is due back anytime now. Perhaps a surprise appearance here to cost Cena the title? Again, Rocky is coming back...

3. Surprise attacks are always welcome in this kind of match. Cena won't lose clean. We already know that. The only thing that can keep Cena down for a ten count is something very dramatic.

Winner: Del Rio, due to "something big"

Mark Henry vs. Big Show for the World Title

7 of 8

Mark Henry keeps his World Heavyweight Championship, and I keep smiling.

Winner(s): Mark Henry (and myself)

Triple H and Punk vs. Miz and Truth

8 of 8

This is likely to close the show. This is where Survivor Series is set up. The outcome here will go a long way into making next month's PPV show a "must see" event.

Will Triple H turn on Punk? Will CM Punk turn on Triple H? Will Kevin Nash return? Will Vince show up? Will Johnny Ace be around texting? Is Stephanie still involved? What ever happened to the Anonymous Raw General Manager? Is The Undertaker still alive?

So many questions to be answered, yet all of them revolve around Miz and R-Truth picking up a win. My only fear is that I have a lot of heels winning Sunday night. I know the internet loves their heels, but I tend to stick to "reality," as opposed to just picking my favorites for no reason.

Survivor Series is going to need some serious heat, and the company is going to have to look vulnerable enough for The Rock to return and "save" WWE. In that case, The Awesome Truth needs to win here.

They can threaten the entire company and talk about possible even cancelling Wrestle Mania next year. Rock and Cena could make an agreement to team together in order to "preserve" their dream match and take out Miz/Truth at Survivor Series. Makes sense to me...

Winners: The Miz and R-Truth
