Finally, we have a special award, which hopefully will become a regular fixture if and when other suitable candidates appear in our community.
It is basically an award to acknowledge the incredible work that some of our finest writers have done in contributing to the great success of the community. Think of it as a sort of "lifetime achievement award", except without the lifetime bit.
So basically it is an achievement award.
The Hall of Fame Award
With the very first inductions into the B/R World Football Hall of Fame, who better to pick then our two intrepid community leaders?
Without question, both men have done more than any others to promote this site to a wider audience, and deserve much of the credit for managing to get "proper" football so much coverage on what is undoubtedly an American-centric site.
With a combined 761 articles and 4,447 posted comments between them, the two men have clearly worked tirelessly in their role as community leader to not only produce their own insightful analysis, but also promote and encourage the good work of many others.
I am sure I speak for many people when I say that Andrew and Salaar were the first two people to give me consistent support and assistance when I first joined this site. Their words of advice undoubtedly helped me gain the confidence to still be hanging around here, almost 70 articles later.
If the World Football Community was an actual sports team, then undoubtedly we would retire both men’s shirt numbers, and perhaps even name a stand after them—if not the whole stadium.
But unfortunately it is not, and so they will have to make do with the knowledge that they are the inaugural inductees into the Hall of Fame.
They have made a massive impact on the writing adventures of many people, for which we are all extremely grateful. Long may it continue.
Congratulations to all the winners!
