Alex's Bio
Alex is a recent history graduate, who is starting a postgraduate journalism course in September. With an unflinching belief that he is always right, a convenient disregard for facts that might not support his view and an ability to write thousands of words on the most trivial of stories, Alex naturally believes he has all the skills required to become a great journalist. With past experience including a blog that reached literally tens of people worldwide and an article his mum read, he also believes he has the popularity to succeed.
Alex knows a lot about sport - last year alone he predicted Tiger Woods would win a major, and an English team would win the Champions League - so his is an opinion worth listening to. He also bet on the Giants to win the Superbowl, before the Playoffs had even begun. Never one to boast, he also knew the Celtics would take the NBA Finals - he just didn't want to spoil the surprise for everyone else.
Alex joined Bleacher Report because, as everyone knows, it is the best site for intelligent sports discussion. Above all else, Alex wants to get as much feedback on his work as possible. As a journalist he wants to improve and become the best he can, so constructive criticism is always welcomed. Just don't disagree with his opinions - he's never wrong.
Over the next 12 weeks, Alex is taking part in Bleacher Report's editing internship - so if he edits one of your pieces don't be afraid to let him know what you think. Having your articles reviewed by editors is a critical way to give your work more exposure - so if feel you have produced a quality piece but no one is reading it, let Alex know and he happily look it over for you!

Thank you for the add Alex. Yes indeed, what a great way to train for being a sports journalist, reading The Times! We could be like that one day, a Martin Samuel or a Simon Barnes. You keep banging out the articles as well and we could be there in no time.
Anyway, once again, thanks for the add.

Thanks for your comment Alex, I am glad that plenty of people seem to be agreeing with me as I feared I may be going 'out on a limb' with my article. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the next few months.
Cheers

Thankyou for the edit on my article, and thankyou for pointing that out about the missing words. I should have written a draft first but didn't have enough time, it was a bit careless of me. I joined B/R to improve my writing skills so I definitely need constructive criticism on my articles, so thats much appreciated.
How did you get to do an internship editing articles for B/R?
Where are you going to do your postgraduate journalism course, if you don't mind me asking? I've been looking into doing mine in Leeds but its very expensive so might have to leave it for a year.
Just read a few of your recent articles aswell. First class. Keep up the good work.
Bevan.

hahaha, sure thing, no problem, all is forgiven. If you happen to catch a rerun somewhere, look out for that race. I tried to see if there's a video anywhere online, but I can't seem to find it!
Heh, I'd never miss a chance to watch a person from my country getting a medal, especially at the Olympics.
You know, funny story - when I was practicing swimming, I was in a club that had the best 4x100m freestyle relay in the country for boys born in 1987. I used to be a part of that relay, and I always swam the second leg.
In the summer of 2002, Cavic was in Belgrade. The previous year, he had become the European junior swimming champion at 100m butterfly, and second-best at 50 butterfly. Since he was registered as a swimmer in my club so that he could compete at the nationals, he came to visit one of our practices.
Our coach introduced the people from the relay team and me as national champions, and asked Cavic if he wanted to take a picture with us. Cavic agreed.
Now, the funny part - - - Because he had such a gigantic arm span, Cavic was able to hug all four of us easily, with two people on each side. So, it is not a surprise that he had such a success at the international stage, cuz his built is astonishing.
Unfortunately, I have never gotten the picture. Who knows where it ended up.
But, it was pretty cool being at the pool that summer when he gave us all a hug!

I was supporting Milorad Cavic, in spite of the fact that I wrote a rather enthusiastic article on Michael Phelps' 7th gold LOL :) :p. I was born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, and have lived there for 19 years before going to college in the USA.
I used to do swimming for over 8 years, and I must say that Cavic had a very poor strategy coming into the finish. I don't know how much you noticed, but Phelps had more strokes than Cavic in the last 15 meters of the race. This allowed him to have a better and faster finish in the last 2-3 meters, unlike Cavic, who just stretched as far as he could. The stretch that Cavic did usually works, but he was WAAAY TOO FAR from the finish when he did that move!
So, I gotta give it to Phelps, he truly deserved the gold. Top-notch finish in an unbelievable race, and even though he beat my guy, I applaud his marvelous effort!
It kinda sucks for the 100m sprint race, cuz I'm a huge fan of track & field! I thought the finals were tomorrow (Sunday), since the qualification were on Friday, if that works for an excuse :) :p At least I watched a reply, if that counts LOL :) :)

Thanks for the kind comments, Alex. I try to avoid writing things that are boring, which is why you'll never see me simply write one of those "breaking news" articles that just sums up what every major media source is already saying.
I just wanted to comment to you that I throughly enjoyed your "transfer fee" article. Quality writing, mate. I was thinking about that article when I wrote earlier today, but couldn't remember who had written it. Nice work.
Regards,
Ryan
