October 19, 2007: Jonathan Toews makes his presence felt.
It was quite the rookie year for Chicago Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews. He recorded a point in each of his first 10 NHL games (5 goals, 5 assists), which is the second longest streak to start an NHL career. Despite being limited to 64 games, Toews still managed to finish first in goals (24) and power play goals (7) among rookies.

It was the evening of October 19, 2007, that fans will remember the most. In the first period of a scoreless tie against the Colorado Avalanche, Jonathan got the puck at center ice.
He cut in-between Milan Hejduk and Scott Hannan to enter the Avalanche zone. With the puck on his left and near the second Avalanche defenseman, he pulls the puck towards his skates before deking Jose Theodore and sliding the puck into the empty net.
"It happened so fast," Toews said. "I was lucky their D-men were a little flatfooted. I don't think they expected me to come in with that much speed. I was pretty pumped."
Unbelievable. Moves like that coming from a 19 year-old at the time. Chicago coach, Denis Savard, who knows a little something about highlight reel goals, was equally impressed.
"We haven't seen a goal like this in a long time," Savard said. "It was the highlight tape goal of the week, highlight goal of the year."
Toews, along with Patrick Kane, Patrick Sharp, Brian Campbell, and Cristobal Huet, should all ensure that the Chicago Blackhawks see postseason action this year. It'll be Jonathan's first season as the Hawk captain.
