Top 10 Moments of the 2007-2008 NHL Season: No.8

R LAug 11, 2008

This series is highlighting the top 10 moments of this past NHL season. Goals, pretty plays, hits, fights, and screw-ups, you'll see them all.

December 7, 2007: Dominik Hasek makes Marian Gaborik flip out.

If a picture says a thousand words, I don't know how many this one deserves. With the Minnesota Wild down five-nothing to the Detroit Red Wings, it seemed like it couldn't get any worse.

Henrik Zetterberg had a hat trick, Pavel Datsyuk had three assists, and the Wild weren't able to muster up much in the way of offense. With 2:19 left in the third period though, Marian Gaborik had a breakaway.

A goal wouldn't change the game, but at least Dominik Hasek's shutout would be broken right? Wrong. Gaborik had his head down and Hasek charged at him to try and knock the puck away. Not only did he slide out and knock the puck away, he sent Gaborik flying in the air with his skates over his head.

The "Dominator" did receive a penalty on the play, much to his surprise.

"I got there first to the puck and I don't think it's supposed to be a penalty," Hasek said. "His head was down, I didn't go after him, I went directly for the puck. I got the puck first, then I hit him. I hit him with my legs, but I have to protect myself also. I cannot go into him with my shoulders."

The Wild weren't able to capitalize on the powerplay, thus giving Hasek the shutout and a play he'd never forget. Marian Gaborik on the other hand, probably tried his best to forget, but still had to catch the play at least once on a highlight reel.

10) October 15, 2007: McCabe scores—on himself.
