Think of This New York Jets Team as 1991 New York Giants
Everyone compares this playoff run by the Jets to the Giants playoff run couple of years ago. No one expected both teams to do much in the playoffs.
The Jets are a win away from going to the Super Bowl while the Giants surprised everyone even themselves by winning the Super Bowl.
While New Yorkers are at it, they might as well compared the Jets playoff run to the Giants playoff run in 1991.

It makes sense when one thinks about it.
That Giants team was about smart coaching, great defense, and an efficient running game. Same can be said about this Jets team.
Everyone expected the Giants to win games because they have the edge in the coaching department with the tandem of then-Giants coach Bill Parcells and then-Giants defensive coordinator Bill Belichick. Parcells and Belichick were at their best when it came to game adjustments and out scheming the other coaches.
The Jets have that too with a great coaching staff leading the way. With Ryan's defense along with Brian Schottenheimer's playcalling, the Jets are in a position to win games.
That Giants team made life miserable for the quarterbacks, and this Jets team is following the script.
Both teams create expectations about getting a game-changing play through an interception or a fumble. Their defensive plays stands out the most in the playoff time, and that's why the cliche of defense wins championships exist.
Like Mark Sanchez, Jeff Hostetler wasn't exactly stellar. They were good enough to manage the game and make the key plays when the opportunity existed.
They knew how to win close games.
Sanchez has a higher upside than Hostetler based on better arm strength.
Both teams relied on their running game to give the team most of the ball possession along with milking the clock in the fourth quarter. It also helps them put points on the scoreboard.
Everyone expected the Niners to blow the Giants out in the 1991 NFC Championship Game, but low and behold, the Giants defense gave Montana a hard time in this game. The Giants found a way to win ugly with Matt Bahr kicking the game-winning for an unlikely upset.
That's the way the Jets need to play today in beating the Colts on the road.
There's no reason to think it won't happen. The Jets' pass rush is good enough to get to Peyton Manning, and bet on Darrelle Revis to make an interception.
Sanchez will likely find a way to get a touchdown here.
The Jets should be able to leave Lucas Oil Stadium as AFC Champs when the game is over.
Everyone talked about the good fortune the Giants had in that run with everything going their way, and same is true for the Jets. Neither teams should apologize for it either because that's the way it goes in sports.
Teams create luck during championship run.
They also vow some admirers in the process.
Both teams show the swagger that make them look like champs. Now, the Giants won the whole prize while the Jets need to get through the Colts and the NFC Winner to match what the Giants did.
Still, it's hard not to see any similarities between both teams.
