Oladipo Active vs. Clippers
Saturday, Dec. 31
Oladipo will play against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, per Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript.
Oladipo Has Become Key Piece to Thunder
Oladipo was part of a huge draft-night trade involving the Orlando Magic. The Thunder acquired the 24-year-old as part of a package that sent Serge Ibaka to Orlando.
Even though Kevin Durant had not yet decided he would join the Golden State Warriors at the time of the deal, Oladipo's presence did give the Thunder more versatility with his strong defensive skills.
There's no question Russell Westbrook is the leader for Oklahoma City moving forward, but if the Thunder want to remain a strong playoff threat in the Western Conference, Oladipo has to continue the development he showed over his first three seasons.
Oladipo has never been a high-percentage shooter, though he did connect on a career-best 43.8 percent of his attempts last season (34.8 percent from three-point range). If he can follow that upward trajectory on offense with his usually stingy defense, the Thunder will thrive.
Oklahoma City doesn't have the same depth as it did when Durant was there, so Oladipo's health takes on even more prominence over the course of a long NBA season.
