Both players entered the NFL amid a fury of hype.
And after a disappointing 2014, both young signal-callers face a make-or-break season this year.
Sadly, both also play for rotten football teams, so fans tuning in to Thursday's exhibition opener for both clubs are more likely to see a clinic on how not to play the game.
That doesn't mean there won't be anything to watch, though. And whether it's score updates, game news, analysis or snarky comments about players you've never heard of, Bleacher Report will have you covered with this blow-by-blow breakdown.
The first quarter featured a couple of solid drives (including a strong start from Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown) and an ugly leg injury for Washington tight end Niles Paul.
The second quarter featured more offense from both Manziel and Washington backup Kirk Cousins, and some defense that was, well, offensive.
In the end the story of the game was a Cleveland offense that struggled to move the ball, a Browns defense that looked awful against the run, and Washington miscues that allowed the Browns to lead for much of the night.
Just not at the end.
