Breaking Down Twitter Buzz from the Eagles' Win on Monday Night Football
If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, I hope you didn’t have a heart attack watching Monday night’s 30-27 come-from-behind victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The Eagles proved once again that when you have quarterback Nick Foles and running backs LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles, you’re never out of a football game.
In the fourth quarter, down 27-20, Foles threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Jeremy Maclin with 3:25 left to tie the game at 27. Foles also helped set up a game-winning 36-yard field goal as time expired. Both during and after all the excitement of Monday’s game, analysts and fans voiced their opinions on Twitter.

Another Comeback Victory For the Eagles
Despite the slow start by the Eagles offense, the team found a way to come back against a Colts team that won the AFC South last season. Last week, the Eagles were down 17-0 against the Jacksonville Jaguars at halftime. In the second half, the Eagles scored 34 unanswered points to win the game 34-17.
For the second straight week, Foles threw over 300 yards as he finished the game 27-of-37 for 331 yards and a touchdown. As high-flying as the Eagles offense is, you can never completely count Philadelphia out of a game.
The Eagles will host the Washington Redskins in Week 3, so we will see if the Philadelphia offense has any more magic up its sleeve.
Darren Sproles Bails the Eagles out Again
On Monday night, Sproles had seven receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown. He would finish with 203 all-purpose yards for the game and single-handedly made up for the slow start by Foles and McCoy.
In the third quarter, Sproles bounced off several Colts defenders to score a 19-yard touchdown. It was also Sproles who ran for 57 yards to set up the Eagles’ game-tying, fourth-quarter touchdown. In Week 1 against Jacksonville, Sproles had 11 carries for 71 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown run.
Many thought the Eagles offense would decelerate once the team cut DeSean Jackson, but that hasn’t been the case with Sproles in Philadelphia's lineup. When head coach Chip Kelly puts Sproles in the backfield, it is a nightmare matchup for defenses.
While the loss of Sproles isn’t the reason why the New Orleans Saints are 0-2, Sproles is a big reason why the Eagles have won their first two games of the season. Former NFL player Ross Tucker called Sproles the steal of the century for the Eagles, and he could be right.
Surprisingly the Colts Are 0-2
Many people thought the Colts could represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, but now the team surprisingly finds itself at 0-2.
Quarterback Andrew Luck’s interception with 5:08 left in the game along with Trent Richardson’s fumble led to 14 points by the Eagles offense. The Colts defense didn’t help as it gave up 24 points in the second half.
The Colts are not out of the AFC South race by any means, but history is not on their side. Since 1990, there have been only 23 teams that have started 0-2 and made the playoffs.
ESPN personality Mike Greenberg claims that history says only one of the 0-2 teams will make the playoffs.
Out of all the teams that are currently 0-2, the Colts probably have the best chance to make the playoffs. They still have six games against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans, so it isn’t like the AFC South is the toughest division in the NFL.
With their comeback win on Monday, the Eagles are in sole possession of first place in the NFC East. Sproles and the Eagles offense are big reasons for the team’s early success. However, I wouldn’t write off the Colts just yet. When a team has arguably the best young quarterback in the NFL in Luck, it has as good a shot as any to make the playoffs despite an 0-2 start.
